Storm Shadow in his 'Nam days.

Reminds me of one of my favorite Joe comics, European Missions # 3.

My childhood Roadblock.

When the going gets tough, the tough haul a .50 cal.

LADY JAY: Do you even know where you are going?

FLINT: With Cobra behind us and empty road ahead, I'm going this way.

LADY JAY: Well, up ahead is the border to Darklonia. I doubt we'll be much safer there.

My pretty cool G.I. Joe Mech

Six elite polar troops versus one ninja is no contest.

Snake Eyes is a head swap winter version with an extra sword I had laying around.

I like using the 1994 Joe Colton as a stealth expert. I replaced the ridiculously oversized machine gun he came with, instead using the black M-16 that came with Python Patrol Copperhead.

I really did lose the figure while shooting this, and ended up finding him in perfect shape a few weeks later. Because that's what the original GI Joe is made of!

Another new recruit to the dreadnoks, Backfire's youth was filled with elaborate pranks and practical jokes that never went as planned, and always landed him in trouble with the law.

It's been way too long since I've made a g.i.joe custom, so here's a fresh one.

A team huddle in orbit. These are mostly some head swaps with extra Countdown figures. The custom Robo Joe and Sci-Fi figures are ones I haven't used in a couple of years.

The console in the background is a handpainted resin piece.

I feel a lot like this.

Some Joes in the cardboard Command Center from Extreme Sets.

I added some set pieces from Marauders, as well as minor special effects and a couple of custom painted computer consoles from Empire Toy Works.

And there's a custom unmasked Wet Suit in there for good measure.

Custom Recondo hunts down a Cobra campsite in the dinosaur-infested jungles of my Lost World setting.

I enjoy this figure for the feeling of Indiana Jones or the old movie serials that it brings to the photos.

A custom version of Recoil leads the way.

I have a few custom versions of this guy and I always seem to prefer them over the original.

Back to the BENCH

Hazard BAT customs by Black Major (not my customs).

These are the BATs sent in to radioactive tunnels.

Torpedo outsmarted that Naval Viper (which is a custom by Red Laser, not my custom).

This one is a year old, I initially rejected it because it lacks the sky and the presence of my other beach shots. And because the Viper got cut off.

A repainted Snow Serpent with an AP Baroness rifle.

There's also a head swap custom behind him, it's a combo I've seen before. The head did need to be filed.

It's a low res camera phone shot because I don't like bringing my real camera out when snow is actually falling.

Part ninja, part robot.

This is an older custom, I'd like to make a few more but the parts are a bit tough to come by.

Voltar is a weird figure but I've finally decided I like it. As a general for Destro he fills an odd/minor role anyway, and the head sculpt and the bird are kind of cool.

The battlesuit in the back is a custom painted Marvel Legends Hulkbuster Iron Man. I renamed it the Ares Battle Armor (a reference to M.A.R.S.) and it's intended as the answer to the Cobra MechaVipers (a repainted Terminator endoskeleton in Cobra Viper colors).

Arguably the most mysterious and feared man in the cobra organization. A master of persuasion and an expert in torture, one way or another he gets the results.

Cross Country and '83 Clutch. They seem like a good combination.

Love these glow in the dark green BATS.

one of Josh's super poseable GI Joes. of course I had to find a way to make peace out of a 'war toy'. ;)

Alodia Gosiengfiao as the Baroness. Amazing to meet and talk to her for a quick sec. She came all the way from P.I. I'm in love!

*Explored - July 22, 2010

Satan is at large in the wilderness.

This is my custom version I think of as Satan v2.

Tracker is out for his daily run.

I don't normally use the standard Tracker. I have a head swap custom with the Special Missions Brazil version of Wet Suit, to call out his Navy Seal background. But for an early jog, his usual outfit makes sense.

A head swap Stalker, it's the '97 Stalker head on the '97 Snake Eyes body. The idea is to use it as a replacement for the '94 Stalker.

I have quite a few custom Stalkers at this point.

The Water Moccasin was one of my favorite small GI Joe vehicles as a kid. Here I photographed it with Croc Master and my custom Swamp Trooper to the far right.

Dreadnok enforcer with a high pain tolerance.

I decided to revisit this older custom, adding some green to his vest and shoes. I felt that before he looked too bland and really needed an extra color.

I feel like I've been putting OT into these Eco Warriors customs, trying to bring some military feeling into it. The gas masks from Marauders are a big help, and I created a diorama to go with them.

I also ended up cutting my finger pretty badly while working on Flint's backpack, which is a Deep Six v2 backpack with a custom attachment. Sort of Ghostbusters-like.

Parts combo customs in the spirit of the old 12" Adventure Team figures. Little or no paint on these guys.

I made some really oddball weapons choices, such as a bow for Flint and nunchucks for Clutch, but for some reason that enhanced the Adventure vibe for me. I guess because the old figures were more meant to be whatever you wanted, rather than adhering to a strict character concept.
