While out patrolling the backroads of Michigan this small mom and pop shop that’s been sitting abandoned for decades is one of my favorite spots.

Thank you so much Any for helping me with this photo <3

Found this on my way home from work. To get to this old car, I had to climb through stinger needle bushes. I think my legs may be scarred from the experience and I still didn't get the shots I wanted. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?! :-) This car can expect me back for a visit....next time with pants and boots. :-)

So tell me....this is the gas tank so why does it have a lock?

Mile marker 203, the gas gauge leanin' on the edge of "E",

An' I'll be dang'd if the rain ain't pourin' down.

There's somethin' smokin' underneath the hood,

It's a-bangin' and a-clangin' an' it can't be good,

An' it's another fifty miles to the nearest town.

Everythin' I own's in the back in a hefty bag;

I'm outta cigarettes an' I'm down to my last drag.

I'd sure hate to break down here,

Nothin' up ahead or in the rear view mirror.

Out in the middle of nowhere, knowin'.

I'm in trouble if these wheels stop rollin'.

So, God help me, keep me movin' somehow.

Don't let me start wishin' I was with him now.

I made it this far without cryin' a single tear.

I'd sure hate to break down here.

A gallon of gas just isn't what it used to be!

Found in at a old abandoned house in the Buenos Aries National Wildlife area in Arizona, USA

House in Howden, North Yorkshire.

Gasholder Park, St Pancras & King's Cross, London. Three of the four gas holders have been converted to luxury apartments. The other is now a public park with art features. They have been here since the 1850's but were decommissioned at the turn of the 21st century when the whole area was redeveloped.

Montana Rail Link’s day gas local curves eastbound through Weeksville, Montana, on September 20, 2012, led by venerable EMD SD45 No. 346.

The setting sun catches the side of the vertical retort building (1932) at the site of the old Launceston Gas Company. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Launceston_Gasworks

In 1826 Launceston, like most cities was running on sperm whale oil for their lamps. But in 1844, Dr William Pugh (a pioneer of anesthetic medicine) produced a means by which he could convert coal into methane gas to light his house. This was an idea that took off quickly around the world and gas companies were formed to mass produce methane gas from coal.

In 1858 the Launceston Gas Company was formed and on 5 April 1860 the city turned on its gas powered street lights for the first time. In 1932 the vertical retort building we see here (where the actual conversion process was carried out) was built. It was a far more efficient and larger means of producing more gas. Most of the coal was actually shipped in from the Hunter Valley and down the Tamar to the wharf directly outside the main entrance to the gasworks.

By the 1970s LPG had become more convenient and a cheaper form of gas and so the conversion processing plant was shut down.

So this is my tribute to yesteryear. Enjoy it while it lasts. It was also part of my personal challenge to only use a 50mm lens.

In the old part of the town here in Düsseldorf there are several areas which still have beautiful old gas lamps. There were strong protests when the city authorities wanted to remove them.

Recently there has been no news about them, and they are still there....!

Shot in a fine mist. I have been trying for a year to shoot this place without the flood lights washing everything out. At 5:15 AM I got the shot just as they were opening up and the lights were not all on . Piper City, Illinois population 855

1965 Corvette Stingray

Am I the only one who has ever done this? I worked out several variations of this shot with this one being the one I liked the least. I deleted all of the supposedly "bad' ones along with the original. A few days later I discovered that this was the only one I had left. So not my best work but it is what I have!

A shot from that brief time when the Corner Gas film set was used as a souvenir store.

The buildings used as sets for the program were allowed to fall into disrepair after the show wrapped up production. They were purchased by an entrepreneur who converted them into a museum and souvenir shop. The set was demolished in November 2016.

On 28 September 2014, the building that was used as the FOO[D] MAR[KE]T, the local grocery store in the series, was destroyed in a fire. The grain elevator was destroyed in a fire on November 5, 2021, about two weeks after the building used for depicting Dog River's police station collapsed.

A fellow photographer. I saw quite a few others out too.

Montana Rail Link’s gas local creates its own snowstorm as it thunders eastbound through Weeksville, Montana, on February 9, 2014. Heading up the 30-car local this cold day is venerable SDP40 (rebuilt by MRL and now classified as a SD40-2XR) No. 290, a former passenger-hauling Great Northern locomotive.

In this little hut, there is a gas barrel. A manual pump enables to put it in the glass jar you can see (so that people can see and check that the gas look good) and then the woman put in a plastic pitcher and then pour it in the motorbike tank.
