I really like this shot, I was really hesitant to print it but I'm glad I did.

Summer Holiday 2023 - France

I have been busy trying to capture both new subjects and subjects that I have photographed in the past! This falls in the first category, I did try earlier this year to capture a bearded vulture, with no luck. I had good company this time and the weather was a bit more clement. So it was definitely easier to wait for this impressive scavenger to show up.

The brainchild of Alex Tremulis, famous stylist and Automobile Hall of Fame inductee, and Thomas Summers, a gyroscope expert, the Gyro-X is a two-wheeled, gyroscopically-stabilized prototype vehicle constructed in 1967. Proposed as a possible solution for future transportation, the two-wheeled vehicle provided many thought-provoking ideas for revolutionizing transportation.

While walking up to the now-closed Smuggler's Notch Road I noticed a marsh trail that I have never seen in my many years of exploring this area. It ended up being my favorite find of the day.

Here's one from a project where I was trying to nail the combination of a water droplet crown along with getting a nice bokeh shot at the same time. It took a lot of trial and error along with some patience, but I think the finished shot here is pretty cool. Sometimes patience does pay off! I've found the Tamron 45 VC to be an extremely versatile lens. It is getting a lot of use, from events to landscapes to video work. I'm definitely a fan!

Technical Information: Canon EOS 6D, Tamron SP 45mm f/1.8 Di VC USD, Processed in Adobe Lightroom CC, Photoshop CC, and Alien Skin Exposure X (use code "dustinabbott" to get 10% off)

We all like to reflect. 2017 is a year to definitely reflect on. This image captures silence, peace and a reflection of its own self. We take many things for granted but most importantly we never appreciate what we’ve personally achieved enough. Always waiting for someone else’s approval. If you feel you’ve done the best you can for yourself or others then pat yourself on the back and be proud of your achievements. Be humble in defeat and respectful in glory. I hope your 2017 was as good as you could have imagined.
