In the history of watchmaking there are several models of chronographs that are just legendary, and among them is the Omega Speedmaster, for being the first watch that was on the Moon, in the Apollo XI mission. The Omega Speedmaster became in 1964 the official endowment clock of NASA for its manned missions, and as such played a key role in the return to Earth of the crew of the accident Apollo XIII mission, since it was used by astronauts to measure the approximately 14 final seconds of ignition of the lunar module engines that were needed to adjust the trajectory before re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere, on April 17, 1970. The background image shows astronaut David Scott floating in front of the hatch of the Gumdrop control module during a spacewalk about 220 kilometres from Earth. Scott was photographed by his partner Russell Schweickart, who was making his own spacewalk to test the new backpack suit designed for the surface of the Moon, during the Apollo IX mission. Slide taken with a Hasselblad with a 70mm lens, between April 3-13, 1969.

Thinking about people in California
I have been busy trying to capture both new subjects and subjects that I have photographed in the past! This falls in the first category, I did try earlier this year to capture a bearded vulture, with no luck. I had good company this time and the weather was a bit more clement. So it was definitely easier to wait for this impressive scavenger to show up.
