Jachenau ist eine Gemeinde im oberbayerischen Landkreis Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen. Als "die Jachenau" wird auch das 15 km lange, idyllische Wald- und Wiesental der Jachen bezeichnet, das sich von West nach Ost erstreckt und in dem der Ort liegt.
Auf Grund der West-Ost-Ausrichtung hat das 15 km lange Jachental im Sommer vom frühen Morgen bis zum späten Abend durchgehend Sonne. Deshalb bezeichnet sich auch heute die Jachenau als „Sonnental“.
Doch wird das Tal auf beiden Seiten durch Bergrücken begrenzt, die im Norden mit der Benediktenwand bis an 1800 m reichen und im Süden zwischen Staffel (Berg) und Wilfetsberg bei 1500 m und 1400 m Höhe liegen. Der südliche Rücken ist die Ursache für die „Schattenhöfe“, die im Winter, aufgrund der flach stehenden Sonne, mehr als zwei Monate lang keinen Sonnenstrahl sehen.
Nach der Gemeindegebietsreform von 1975 ist Jachenau mit 871 Einwohnern nach der Bevölkerungszahl die kleinste Gemeinde mit eigener Verwaltung in Bayern. Mit 7 Einwohnern je km² ist sie zudem die am dünnsten besiedelte Gemeinde in Bayern.

Dieppe-based Alpine, once an independent company specialising in faster Renaults, later a Renault subsidiary, established a fine competition history with the Alpine A110 winning the 1973 Monte Carlo Rally and World Rally Championship. The successor was the Alpine A310, initially powered by tuned 17TS/Gordini four-cylinder engine, still rear-mounted. The maximum power reaching 127 PS (93 kW; 125 hp), thanks to the use of 2 twin-barrel 45 DCOE Weber carburetors.
The first model of the A310, built 1971-1976, was a car with a four-cylinder engine and six frontlights. In 1976 the A310 was restyled by Robert Opron and fitted with the more powerful and newly developed 90-degree 2,664 cc V6 PRV engine, as used in some Renaults, Volvos and Peugeots.

Motorwagen 9924 is een van de Braine le Compte tweeassers van de NMVB die over een kopdeur beschikt. Naast de deur bevinden zich twee drie hoekige ijzers waar de ontvanger houvast aan kan vinden bij het overstappen van motor- naar aanhangrijtuig. Links op het front is het voor de groep Henegouwen karakteristieke kleine als olielamp uitgevoerde sluitlicht aangebracht. Aan de drie beugels op de rechter kant van het front kan de brievenbus bevestigd worden. Het cijfer 2 heeft een bijzondere typografie met een kenmerkende gesloten krul.

A 1/48 scale model of an Albatros D.III. I had this idea for a front lit airplane, completely in shadow, and this is what I did. It didn't end up as cool looking as in my minds eye, but I had trouble getting the light to come up from underneath as well as behind.
I liked this angle because in shadow like this, you can't 100% tell if the aircraft is pointing toward you or away.
For those keeping score, I got my flash to work again. It's hanging on by a thread, but I got a couple of shots out.

Fast sieht es ja so aus, als ob das Paar die höchste Stufe der Zweisamkeit erreicht hätte... aber die Leiter liegt da, um im Eis eingebrochene Personen zu retten. Natürlich ist der Kirchsee nicht begehbar und wird es in diesem Winter auch nicht mehr werden.
In this photo you can see the puddle from the previous photo. It's the larger one on the left. This is also what I was after that morning. I wanted a large stitched panorama including not only the beautiful Buffalo City Hall but also more to the left and right around the McKinley Monument in the middle of the Niagara Square (can a square be round?).

I also wanted to minimize the shadows on the building, and not to blow out the sky. Thus, I was there rather early before sunrise. This is the first panorama from the morning that ended up at around 89 megapixels in full size (built from 27 files). The foreground flowers had to be pulled out of dark shadows but it was not too bad and not a problem with the RAW files.
The low levels of light combined with stopped down aperture are apparent in the foliage motion blur. Not sure why the EXIF is showing 13 mm for my focal length, I remember setting my lens at 35 mm to provide for less distortion allowing for easier stitching.
My intent was to use sunlight to frontlight the orchid. Duchemin mentions that natural light creates many different interesting lighting scenarios, so I wanted to use sunlight instead of an indoor light for this photo. This image met my goal, and the sunlight helps bring out the details of the orchid’s petals. The exposure, contrast, and clarity were increased while the highlights, whites, haze, and noise were reduced. There is some post-crop vignetting, and the image was sharpened.

The Maximilianeum, a palatial building in Munich, was built as the home of a gifted students' foundation and has also housed the Bavarian Landtag (state parliament) since 1949. The principal was King Maximilian II of Bavaria, who started the project in 1857. The leading architect was Friedrich Bürklein. The building is situated on the bank of river Isar before the Maximilian Bridge and marks the eastern end of the Maximilianstrasse, one of Munich's royal avenues. In the background you can see the Max Monument.
Das Maximilianeum im Münchner Stadtteil Haidhausen beherbergt seit 1876 die Stiftung Maximilianeum für begabte Studenten aus der Pfalz und Bayern. Außerdem ist es seit 1949 Sitz des Bayerischen Landtags. Der Bau liegt als pathetische Kulissenarchitektur mit großartiger Fernwirkung auf dem östlichen Isar-Hochufer in Sichtachse der Maximilianstraße über die Maximiliansbrücke. Im Hintergrund kann man noch das Maxmonument (Max-II-Denkmal) erkennen.
Am 5. Oktober 1857 ließ König Max II. den Grundstein für den Bau des Architekten Friedrich Bürklein legen. 1874 war der Bau nach mehrmaligen Nachbesserungen dann endgültig fertiggestellt.

In meteorology, a corona is produced by the diffraction of light from either the Sun or the Moon by individual small water droplets (and sometimes tiny ice crystals) of a cloud.
The corona consists of small number of concentric colored rings around the celestial object and a central bright aureole. The angular size of the corona depends on the diameters of the cloud droplets - small droplets produce bright coronae.

Die Alpspitze ist ein 2.628 m hoher Berg im Wettersteingebirge. Als Wahrzeichen von Garmisch-Partenkirchen gilt der pyramidenförmige Gipfel als eine der bekanntesten und schönsten Berggestalten der Nördlichen Kalkalpen.
Am 4. Juli 2010 wurde die Aussichtsplattform AlpspiX eröffnet. Rund 50 Meter über der Bergstation der Alpspitzbahn ragen zwei Stahlarme schwebend über dem 1000 Meter tiefen Abgrund. Nur von dort aus kann man in der Nähe der Bergstation die Zugspitze sehen... Fotos davon kommen demnächst.
Rund um die Sonnenstrahlung ist ein schwacher "Regenbogen" sichtbar. Dabei handelt es sich um eine Korona. Korona oder Hof bezeichnet man eine Leuchterscheinung um Mond oder Sonne, die durch Beugung des Lichts an den Wassertröpfchen von Wolken verursacht wird – im Gegensatz zum Regenbogen oder zu Haloeffekten, die beide durch Brechung entstehen. Bei einer Korona ist oft nur eine weiße Scheibe mit rötlichem Rand zu sehen, die Aureole genannt wird. Unter günstigen Bedingungen ist die Aureole von mehreren farbigen Ringen umgeben.

After returning home from a long wildflower photography road trip to Death Valley, I visited a favorite place much closer to home: Joseph D. Grant County Park, by San Jose, California. I planned to photograph a small waterfall. On my drive into the park, I did a double take at the Washburn Trail trailhead; I caught a glimpse of thousands of brilliant California poppies growing in a grassy meadow. I had visited this park for years but never before encountered a wildflower display anywhere near as bold and beautiful as this: a bloom of poppies so near to my home, and every bit as lovely as anything I had found in Death Valley! In 1903 the California poppy became the state flower of California.
