Vanuit Aachen bleven er maar voormeldingen van treinen komen. Daar waren na de 186 293-7 van Lineas nog volgende treinen gepasseerd:
- 12:03 DBC 186 335 met hun gemengde cargo van Köln Kalk naar de Waaslandhaven
- 12:15 Lineas 186 508 met Hupac
- 12:37 Rurtalbahn 186 421 met een Mosolf (Mercedes) autotrein naar Zeebrugge
Vanuit de andere richting was het nog steeds oorverdovend stil. Tja, dan maar op naar de volgende mogelijke positie in het veld in Wonck, die ik helemaal boven aan de heuveltop vond. Het was 12u40 toen de rode DB Traxx uit de bocht kwam met de 45516 aan de haak.
Ik vond dat ik Wonck nu wel gezien had en keek even na of er niet ergens een ander punt in de buurt lag voor alle nog vanuit Aachen aangekondigde treinen. Bassenge leek daarvoor wel geschikt.
Tja daar was ik wel al eens geweest - lang geleden, in de ochtend en zonder resultaat trouwens - maar of dat fotopunt ook bruikbaar was voor treinen uit andere richting?
Even opzoeken op flickr leverde een "ja" als antwoord op die vraag op. Ik zou misschien de 186 508 wel missen met zijn trein als ik nu zou verhuizen, maar aangezien er bijna direct nog een volgende Hupac werd aangekondigd vanuit Aachen (12:55 Lineas 186 505 met Hupac), was dat geen ramp.
Bovendien was het mooi meegenomen dat de zon er beter zou staan en ook frontlicht zou geven.
Dus ging het na deze trein door het veld terug naar de auto en na wat verkeerd rijden in Bassenge zelf (ik wist niet goed meer hoe ik tot op het fotopunt geraakte) vond ik om 13u10 uiteindelijk de toegang. Toen ik de wagen parkeerde, kwam gelijk de 186 508 door. Die had er verhoudingsgewijs lang over gedaan om van Aachen tot Bassenge te geraken, dus ik gokte erop dat de Rurtalbahn cargo vrij snel zou volgen. Wordt vervolgd...

The parade of trains coming from Germany didn't seem to end on Friday the 14th of January. After Lineas 186 293-7 it was a DBC Traxx that came my way with a mixed freight train from Köln Kalk to Waaslandhaven in Antwerp.
In the meantime three other trains were announced in Aachen: two container trains with a Lineas Railpool loco in front and a car train, pulled by a Traxx of Rurtalbahn Cargo.
I decided that it was time to leave Wonck and searched for another viewpoint not to far away and if possible in the direction of the way to home.
I found a decent place in Bassenge with as plus a better position of the sun which should spent also frontlight on the locomotives. Okay, I was on my way ;-)

on a side note, my 5dmkII has become so dusty on the sensor, i'll have to do something about it. a HUGE dust particle thing is clearly visible without processing, in the upper right area. at f22 there's like a huge hair messing up the shot. it's aweful!
Was a heavy fog on the lakeshore this evening. Boys and I went to the pier to see what we could see... not much. Met my Dad out there and we hung around for a while. As we were getting ready to get in the car I noticed how the lights of oncoming cars in the parking lot lit up the fog. 5 minutes later we had the AB800 out of the back of the car for backlight and the car headlights on high for frontlight and we were making lots of shots like this. Didnt go out to strobe but without it we would have had noting... pretty nice save. Hope all is well. Thx bg

Leider mit einer falschen Feineinstellung, dann noch durch die Thermopanescheiben der Tür, was beides auf die Schärfe ging

Der Turmfalke (Falco tinnunculus) ist der häufigste Falke in Mitteleuropa. Seine Nahrung sind vorrangig Nagetiere wie die Wühlmaus die er im Rüttelflug erspät und im Sturzflug aus ca. 10-20 Meter Höhe dann erbeutet.
Unglaublich, welche Farben der Herbst in dieses Wein-Laub gezaubert hat ! Wenn schon die Blätter so abwechslungsreich und schön sind, wie facettenreich und wohlschmekcend muß da erst der Wein sein, der von diesen Reben gekeltert wurde ?!
Unbelievable, what colours the autumn has conjured up in this vine foliage! If the leaves are already so varied and beautiful, how multifaceted and delicious must the wine be that was pressed from these vines ?!

Do you remember? How to make your frontlight glow back then? A generator was driven by your frontwheel (and making the pedalling a little bit harder).
Nowadays it's the other way around. Heavy batteries are helping you pedal with no or less effort faster than you could ever run back then.
So no generator anymore. And the lights are getting their power from the same battery, which also helps you pedal with less effort.
The world is changing...
Rollei RPX is a very good high resolution film, taking over from ADOX CMS 20.
I brought this purple iris inside from the garden to photograph because it's easier to control the lighting indoors.
This was a two light setup using Yongnuo manual strobes in 8.6 inch Lastolite soft boxes positioned in front of the flowers, on both sides, and pointing at the center at a 45 degree angle for even lighting. The strobes and my tripod mounted program were triggered with a Yongnuo RF-603N.

Lighting stuff: My wife held the Yongnuo Flash in an 8.6 inch Lastolite soft box at camer left and just out of the frame. The flash was triggered by a popup flash on my camera.

Finnmark, Norway
The photo was taken at a viewpoint on side of the FV888 looking westwards into the Torskefjorddalen. It was close to sunset so there was strong frontlighting.
Torskefjorddalen has the status of a natur reserve and isn't accessable by car.
In the distance you can see Mårøyfjorden and Laksefjord.
Lots of people come with their boat to Fjällbacka. They enjoy the warm evening in a restaurant at the harbour.
Pilgrimage church of St. Coloman near Schwangau and the famous Neuschwanstein Castle.

Die barocke Colomanskirche liegt bei Schwangau in Bayern. Sie entstand in ihrer heutigen Form im 17. Jahrhundert auf einem Vorläuferbau, der zu Ehren des heiligen Koloman errichtet wurde. Der irische Pilger soll im Sommer 1012 bei seiner Pilgerreise ins Heilige Land an dieser Stelle gerastet haben. Die Kirche ist wegen ihrer Lage am Fuß der Schwangauer Berge und der Nähe zum weltbekannten Schloss Neuschwanstein eine der bekanntesten Sehenswürdigkeiten Bayerns.
