Our once-proud IBM Thinkpad A31p has fallen victim to old age. The backlight of its mighty LCD screen gave up, but the rest of the computer works. In order to actually use it, one must supply a frontlight, in this case a very large and powerful yellow flashlight.

Ramona Eitel Villar is a joung talented Berlin actress.

We had a great shooting session (high-key and low-key) in the studio.

In summer we will meet again for an outdoor shooting, telling storys

So stay tuned ...

More than a decade before this photograph was made, a friendly coworker gave me a large flat fleshy green leaf, a cutting from a plant she said was called Queen of the Night. I was told to put it in water for it to root, and from time to time the plant would produce beautiful fragrant white blossoms opening only at night and finishing by morning! A year later my plant was potted in soil and doing well, but I gave it to a friend as we moved to Virginia. The following year we returned to California and my friend gave me a new cutting from the same plant. Years later, the fabled event finally occurred, and here is the gorgeous single blossom as it appeared at midnight. It was about five inches across and smelled heavenly. By sunrise it had completely wilted. The plant's technical name is Epiphyllum oxypetalum. I wish the photo could convey the blossom's amazing fragrance; you'll just have to imagine.

* Grote delen van de auto zijn echter niet door Porsche, maar door Béla Barényi en/of Erwin Komenda ontworpen. Beiden claimen de originele bedenker van het concept te zijn.

* Volgens anderen zou de Hongaarse Jood Josef Ganz de ontwerper zijn. Het blijft vooralsnog onduidelijk wie de werkelijke bedenker was van het concept "Kever".

* De Kever speelt een hoofdrol in de Herbie-films.

* Kever met staande koplampen en vierkante bumpers = na 1967 tijdperk

* De 1303 sedan is gebouwd van 08-1972 t/m 07-1975

This is in my 'Morgan' set as it was taken while on my way there, even though it is almost 100km away from Morgan. (This location is approximately 25km south-west of Blanchetown)

I saw this small dead tree in a paddock and immediately turned the car around. I thought with the clouds that day and the sun occassionally 'peeking' through them to illuminate the subject with beautiful golden light would be worth a shot. I had to wait for some time for the clouds behind me to clear, but I think it was worth it!

Nubble Light in Maine--one of the most accessible lights for photographers (it's on a little island, but it's very close to shore). Photographed with a Nikon Coolpix 5700. Learning to use spectral highlights (top left). Needed a subject matter for the foreground. I opened the window to let in some diffuse light to frontlight the subject. I think this looks kind of cool, like a print ad?

Gothic Road (Gunnison County Road 317), Crested Butte, CO, 9/26/2011

Near the end of a day photographing early autumn colors around the town of Gothic, Colorado I headed south from there on Gothic Road (Gunnison County Road 317). At a curve in the road I noticed how beautiful Crested Butte looked in the late afternoon sunshine against a sky of dramatic clouds. Crested Butte is a mountain peak butte of the Elk Mountains. Its elevation is 12,168 feet above sea level, and it has a local prominence of 2,582 feet. I found this view from 9,000 feet above sea level between the nearby towns of Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte. In the distance Washington Gulch marks the end of the nearly level grassland and the beginning of the ascent to the peak. This region is well known for its outdoor recreational activities, which include skiing, rock climbing, mountaineering, backcountry skiing, mountain biking, hunting, and fishing. The Elk Mountains are a high, rugged mountain range in the Rocky Mountains of west-central Colorado. Much of the range is located within the White River National Forest and the Gunnison National Forest. It provides a formidable barrier to travel and is traversed only by backroad passes and trails. The range has been the site of mining operations since the days of the Colorado Silver Boom, which saw the founding of mining towns such as Aspen and Ashcroft. In the late 19th century, the western and southern flank of the range became the site of intense coal mining that continues to the present day. The Elk Mountains receive a great deal of snowfall due to their position west of the continental divide and the westerly origin of most winter storms.

I love the lighted edges created on the leaf because of the strong front light.

Took this at college last night. I was working with Ant and at break time he pulled K in to model for us. Ant set the soft box in the front and slightly to the right and we lit the background (black) with a snoot/green gel. We wanted the backlight broken up a little so we used a little perferated plastic basket and held it in front of the snoot. K was obviously a great model and a great sport - she humoured us all through our break!

Ant's rendition is here.
