Decided to keep this really simple by doing it in-house. This was actually a snack I had made for my wife & I this past weekend.
Food Recipe:
Pumpernickel, cream cheese, smoked salmon, red onion, cucumbers, tomato, chives, & black pepper.
Lighting Recipe:
Consisted of 3 lights (1 back, 1 front, 1 side) & 1 small reflector
Back:
580EXII @ 1/4 power w/ a 3/4 CTO gel & stofen omnibounce, fired into a 32" silver reflector (since I didn't have a silver umbrella)
Front :
550EX @ 1/64 power fired into a small softbox
Side:
Bare SB-26 @ 1/32 power raked across table, spill reflecting of 1 small homemade reflector (or one cheap dvd covered in aluminum foil)
Exposure:
1/200 @ f/4
Lesson Learned:
The shot you see above is the result after 6 hours of trying various setups (and this is after I spent the previous day trying an entirely different subject). Sure I was about to pull my hair out at times, but I stuck with it knowing that "something is possible"; it was just a matter of HOW.
I learned that if you really take the time to see what's happening, you can really add a new dimension to your subjects.
Hope you enjoy it....
