Maybe because of the eruption of the Icelandic vulcano Eyjafjallajökull some impressive sky views from my flight back from Berlin to Munich.
Not sure about this river, should be in Bavaria, I guess (maybe Thuringia).
Wenn jemand weiß, welcher Fluß das ist, wäre ich für ein Feedback dankbar. Sollte wahrscheinlich in Bayern sein (vielleicht Thüringen).
Intention: when there is light in front of a faces it can really bring out features and have an intense feeling to it.
Reference: Duchemin “[shadows are] important and they can be used to create depth, shape, line and mood”
Outcome: this kind of close up photo is one that a lot of movie posters use, which is something that I really love about it
Edits: I increased the saturation and vibrancy of the purple color
Sometimes, you just can't beat 36K of PARs and a general cover of fresnels.
4 Colour wash by PAR cans with cold/warm frontlight and lavender backlight for real flexiblity.
I created this photo with the front light in mind. Duchemin talks about how front light casts away the shadows in a scene and the light bounces back from the subject. I am happy with this shot because although the light is bouncing back, it also has depth because of the dimension of this plant. I enhanced this photo with a levels adjustment, hue and saturation, and slight dodging and burning.

Another Bodak project submission, this one titled Black and White.
I wanted to do something that worked just using black and white, rather than just a B&W conversion. My initial thought was a couple of chess pieces... I was toying with the idea of a black surface with two white chess pieces, frontlighting on and backlighting the other so it was a (black) silhouette.
In the end, I've just been too busy with other bits and pieces to get that figured out (and it would have taken a *lot* of work to get right!).
So, this morning, I had another think about black and white things, and whilst playing the piano, I actually opened my eyes and noticed the keys!
If you've been following my 365, you'll know I've started playing around with off-camera flash, so I had the idea of very low angle flash casting long shadows off the black notes, and a direct from-above shooting position. And here it is.
I did clean the keys first, but unforunately I made the amateurish mistake of doing it with a tissue and it's left little fibres all over the place. I've cloned quite a few out, but if I do this again it will get a proper clean with spray and a lint-free cloth! (Consider it a lesson learnt!)
