The picnic table remains in the front yard, and we were determined to enjoy it, regardless! So we had cozy little breakfast, candlelight dinners, etc, all in the front yard for our neighbors to see. That really doesn't bug me, although I have to admit I am a little shy about snapping pics of food in front of them!

The highlight of our trip to Lake Cargelligo was spending a beautiful evening with some White-fronted Chats at the sewerage ponds.

There is an open section of the ponds that was thick with dozens of saltbush, a favourite habitat of Chat species. And while we were hoping we might see the more elusive Crimson Chats, at least we saw one species of Chat, even if it is the more common species.

The evening light was magic. There were a couple of pairs of Chat that were very busy collecting insects (I suspect they were raising young in the saltbush). The birds would often perch on the top of the saltbush & pose for a few seconds before darting off to the next spot. Amazing to see just how many insects these little birds could cram into their beaks before disappearing into the saltbush.
