While chasing the Bowdle supercell, our original path was blocked by downed power lines. So we headed down dirt and gravel roads to try and catch back up. As we headed east, the turbulent, ragged underbelly of the storm's gust front hung over us like a great, hairy beast. Bowdle, SD - May 22, 2010

Jack Thomas (John Howell Thomas 1897-1954, bro. of Dorothy Thomas 1896-1991) is front, left.
On back (in old handwriting): “Four of the boys of the 177” and in a later hand “2nd 7th Welsh Cycle Corps. Uncle Jack Thomas (bottom left)”.
Possibly members of the 7th (Cyclist) Battalion, The Welsh Regiment? (as per Wikipedia)
Jack's cap badge is of the Welsh Regiment. The guy next to him may be Royal Fusiliers or City of London Regt, I think.
Date very approx, but must be sometime in WW1. The postcard has French wording and a Paris address on the back.
Note - 2/7th (Cyclist) Battalion
Formed at Cardiff in 1914 as a second line unit.
Remained in UK throughout the war. Was at Holt by July 1916, then moved to Fakenham (early 1917). By mid 1918 was at Melton Constable.
(but the photo was taken overseas? So not them...)
