White-fronted Nunbird (Monasa morphoeus fidelis) along the trail up Cerro Pirre, Darien National Park, Panama
......... I had seriously mixed emotions with this shot. We were told that the the torpedos (a couple of which were lying around!) were similar to those used to sink the Belgrano.
The large hatch in the top left of the picture is the "Free Ascent" escape hatch (which is a single door and not an air lock) and the small pipe to the right of this is one of the air lines with sockets for connecting mouth pieces...... these enabled those escaping to breath while the compartment was completely flooded and the escape hatch opens once the pressures inside and outside have equalised....... it is now probably completely dark.... and then its just a question of taking a final breath, making your way in turn to and rising through the hatch opening and breathing out all the way to the surface ...... which avoids bursting your lungs! Only takes about 12 seconds to get to the surface but I bet for anyone who has done this and survived, it was the longest 12 seconds of their lives! ........ seriously scary stuff!
After coaching my sons football team and taking photos at the field. When I arrived home my wife pointed out how beautiful the sky was this evening, so I grabbed my camera and started taking photos.

New unsed John Bull Lightspeed tyre with a Mitchelin inner tube.
Wet felted hat made of grey finn wool and fawn alpaca wool. Stiched with eucalyptus dyed silk thread, feathers are from an emu.
More build shots. That technic brick there serves no purpose, ditto the slope at the bottom. Ah well, they're hidden by the grill.
In 2004-- that fir tree grew way too big, and is the front is scheduled for a major landscape renovation in 2014!
