A nice day of sailing 107 years ago. Bertil Anderson´s photo shows Carl-Georg Steinwall (right) and friend sailing in the Stockholm archipelago. The boat, Iverna (5,67 m LOA), was owned by Carl-Georg´s father Georg. Iverna was designed in the 1890s by August Plym and built at Plym´s Stockholms Båtbyggeri (later Neglingenvarvet). Stockholms Båtbyggeri batch produced a number of boats based on the same design. My restoration and colorization of the original image in the Swedish National Maritime Museum archive (Digital Museum).

Just another countryside adventure with Milkshake...

I'm thinking of her while she is on a plane to France, where she with her family are going to live from now on. I already miss her and I know that I'm not the only one... She is a great person: artistic, fun to be with, smart and so sweet. I wish her and her family all the best in France and I already look forward to seeing them again.

Good luck Denise! XXOOXX

A friend gave me this little plant--Epimedium--some years ago. It blooms in my garden quietly each spring.

A true friend takes you as you are.

A true friend invites you to share in his joys and triumphs and rejoices with you in your joys and accomplishments.

A true friend encourages you to achieve your goals when all others doubt you.

A true friend though not with you physically never leaves you.

Dick I hope that I was as good a friend to you as you were to me.

See you in heaven boss.

My last visit to an old good friend. Aldo was a great sunset.

I have been weeks away from this man. I met him when Sheree and I were in Rhode Island. He was standing at the top of an escalator, pointing a camera at us.

I grew to love him in the period of four days. I grew to love him like a true friend.

Let me tell you a little about Brian. I tread carefully, because I don't want to betray any confidences. But Brian is utterly devoted to his wife Gina...which speaks volumes to me. It simply means that we understand each other...and the core values that rule our hearts.

Brian has undergone a (an?) horrific disease. It has cost him all senses of taste. But he can still smell and when he smells he remembers the way it used to taste and he is content with that. When he packed a lunch for Sheree and me on the train, he included a note. I never even got notes in my lunchbox from my mother.

I loved talking to him and I loved hearing what he thought about everything from the burial of Ted Kennedy to the plight of street people. Frankly, I miss him.

I think of Gina calling him to the computer, to read to him these things. I can see the room in my mind's eye. I know it well.

It makes me smile because I know as he hears them that our friendship is cemented. Brian: I think of you often. And I miss you. So there.

Here he is standing looking out at the ocean. I wonder what he is thinking.

I promised not to show his face...but I think this image shows the heart of my friend in Rhode Island.

Even after all these days, the impression he has left on my heart is as indelible as ink. I look forward to sitting quietly with you again, Brian, sipping a beer and listening to our wives talking happily together upstairs...and knowing all is well in their worlds.

He doesn't photograph stuff...but he helps those of us who do. So say hello to a hero of mine. His name is Brian.

Be well, dear friend.

this is a new tiny little friend I am keeping in my garden..she's as tiny as a 1euro coin!

After a lovely day out together with our families we’re ready for the drive home.

Thank You, Friend

Thank you, friend, for all the things

That mean so much to me--

For concern and understanding

You give abundantly.

Thanks for listening with your heart;

For cheering me when I'm blue;

For bringing out the best in me;

And just for being you.

Thanks for in-depth conversation

That stimulates my brain;

For silly times we laugh out loud;

For things I can't explain.

For looking past my flaws and faults;

For all the time you spend;

For all the kind things that you do,

Thank you; thank you, friend.

This morning when I returned from my workout I discovered my dog had soiled herself in her bed and was still lying in it. I gave her a bath and as she shivered I could feel every bone in her tired body as I lathered and washed her fur. After I cleaned everything up I laid her on a thick blanket and let her warm up by the fireplace which has been one of her favorite things ever. She is struggling today and I can't help think it the tumble down the stairs that is the cause. Sorry to bring you down, it's just where I am today.

My good friend Mia needed some time to unwind and to be pampered for the weekend. We all need to find the time to be kind to yourself and learn to relax. I'm so glad that she came over and that we had such a great time. :)

Definitely the best vegan donuts I have ever had...their vegan nutella and custard was out of this world...a close second would be Voodoo Doughnuts but there are more vegan options there and the donuts are named after bands, which is super cool. Highly recommended if you are in Los Angeles!

Here's a shot of my old place at 814 Gregg Street. You can find another shot of this corner on this web site. A friend posed for me one night, but it's been so long, I can't remember who. I think it was perhaps Elise Knox, but I'm not sure. I notice that one of the LP's on the floor is from the old Angel label (via EMI), when they came in plain, brown wrappers. One of the books is THE ARMADA by Mattingly. There's also a small, black radio visible. I used to listen to WRR-FM on this. That's the Dallas, Texas classical station. The radio wasn't very good, and it would pick up interference from air traffic right in the middle of your favorite symphony or concerto. The vent on the wall is for a very old gas heater that still worked. I rented this half of a duplex from the Morrison family, 1975-1987, and they were wonderful landlords. I like to think of the chair she's sitting in as my "Captain Kirk" Chair. had a lot of fun reading Stephen King novels in that chair. Sadly, it came apart, never to join Starfleet again. The black cylinder by the stereo is a preener, a cloth covered device for cleaning LP's. LP's attract dirt by their very nature. Never use record sprays or anything that might leave a residue on your LP's. There's a YEHUDI MENUIN MUSIC GUIDE on the floor by her feet. I reviewed this for the local paper, the DENTON RECORD-CHRONICLE.
