Mans Best Friend....I went for a walk to Harlaw Reservoir in the Pentland Hills regional park. As i was ambling around looking for photos I was aware of this man with his dog. The reason it caught my attention was that the man kept stopping every three or four hundred yards to allow the old dog to catch up. When it did, the man would pet the dog and talk to it for a few minutes. If you know Harlaw reservoir you will know the point where this image was taken. Its like an olympic medal podium. When the dog reached it he was like a puppy and jumped up to the top spot. The man sat next to the dog and again petted him and talked to him for longer this time. I got the impression they were best friends and were great company for each other.
My friend Bert by one of my stone sculptures.
I've known Bert since my early 20's and we lost touch for a while but were reunited again after he signed up for a mosaic class that I was teaching.
Bert spends some of his time here in the UK as well as in Italy near Salerno

Old Friend - It was fun running into this beautiful Western Screech-Owl still doing well around a year after my original observation. A bit of a tighter crop than usual but pretty happy with the results considering how dark it was and that I had to use a 6 second exposure! I was amazingly able to autofocus in totally naturally light for this image.
Species: Western Screech-Owl (Megascops kennicottii)
Location: Northern California, CA, USA
Equipment: Canon EOS R5 + EF 100-400mm IS II, On Tripod, Remote Release
Settings: 6 sec, ISO: 1600, f/5.6 @400mm, +0.7 EV, Electronic 1st Curtain Shutter
My Flickr friend willytx inspired me to take this photo!
For some it is the doors to hell, for others it is just daily madness. Fortunately for me they are only a photo object in the beloved sunset.

Yes, I love mushrooms. Especially fly agarics. They´re the most beautiful ones out there.

This is our friend Ron. I have highlighted him before, but felt I needed to say a little more about him.
He is 93 years old now and has many fascinating stories to tell about his life. In fact he has so many that we decided to get a digital recorder and document them.
He only has one sister left living, so we thought it important to document and save these treasures of his life.
This portrait of him was taken on the property he grew up on as a child in Myrtel Creek Oregon. We drove him down there so he could show us his old homestead. :-)
We are very pleased to have Ron in our lives. And as you can see, he is very photogenic too. :-)
I guess it depends on how good of a conversationalist they are!

The other day..Klara wanted to go yo our new Playing parc...we all went and with a basketball as well.I saw those beautiful children and invited them to play.Next day we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon together and we became friends. She is fr Brazil.
Each time a parent brought food to this brood of fledged Tree Swallows, the first to spot the incoming delivery wound up getting the goods. In this case it was the second bird from the left. On Armand bayou.
I have been weeks away from this man. I met him when Sheree and I were in Rhode Island. He was standing at the top of an escalator, pointing a camera at us.
I grew to love him in the period of four days. I grew to love him like a true friend.
Let me tell you a little about Brian. I tread carefully, because I don't want to betray any confidences. But Brian is utterly devoted to his wife Gina...which speaks volumes to me. It simply means that we understand each other...and the core values that rule our hearts.
Brian has undergone a (an?) horrific disease. It has cost him all senses of taste. But he can still smell and when he smells he remembers the way it used to taste and he is content with that. When he packed a lunch for Sheree and me on the train, he included a note. I never even got notes in my lunchbox from my mother.
I loved talking to him and I loved hearing what he thought about everything from the burial of Ted Kennedy to the plight of street people. Frankly, I miss him.
I think of Gina calling him to the computer, to read to him these things. I can see the room in my mind's eye. I know it well.
It makes me smile because I know as he hears them that our friendship is cemented. Brian: I think of you often. And I miss you. So there.
Here he is standing looking out at the ocean. I wonder what he is thinking.
I promised not to show his face...but I think this image shows the heart of my friend in Rhode Island.
Even after all these days, the impression he has left on my heart is as indelible as ink. I look forward to sitting quietly with you again, Brian, sipping a beer and listening to our wives talking happily together upstairs...and knowing all is well in their worlds.
He doesn't photograph stuff...but he helps those of us who do. So say hello to a hero of mine. His name is Brian.
Be well, dear friend.
