I've been a little unable to access social media these past few days due to the fact that I'll be moving soon so I apologize for that. I really hate the actual physical exhaustion behind packing but few people talk about the mental exhaustion that plays a big part too. This is my friend Kaitlyn who moved to London from Chicago a few years ago...I can't imagine how much stuff she had to give away in comparison and how much more difficult that move was than this one, a mere 4 miles away, but I have been coming across a lot of the Japanese literature books she gave to me that she had a hard time parting with at the time as they were rare. Don't worry-I'm taking care of them and they will still be a part of my new home!
I really miss Kaitlyn and haven't kept up with her the way I should have. She is super smart and funny and quite exceptional to be around. It's funny how you can miss and long for certain humans at different times.
Anyway, I hope you are all well.

This image is from one of the better hikes in Petrified Forest National Park called Blue Mesa Trail. I would love to offer up some death-defying horror story of how I scrambled to a cliff edge and almost died for this image, but it would be malarkey (forgive the foul language). This is actually taken from a very safe and comfortable overlook with railings and everything. I know, where is the fun in that? So, yes, this composition is popular, Still, it is popular for a reason, and now I have my own version of this iconic scene. I actually had this same image with people down there too, but this seemed to much more true to the place. I feel like this landscape seems so alien, so inhospitable, that it is far better suited to be alone. I am sure many will argue it is indeed teaming with life, but it sure does not feel that way. So here you go. Alone. The only friend this strange place has is color.

Thing is, it happens at New Years and so many other parties....the "aftermath"...and there always seems to be that one friend...that just can't hang....
No friends were hurt in the aftermath of this scene....in fact I gave her some orange juice and Tylenol and she was miraculously better and went home...so much so that she didn't bother to help me clean up...some friend!!

This resident oriental pied hornbill was eyeing the newly furbished nest of the crested goshawk while his flock was nearby till the other eagle flew back...My first witness of such wildlife behaviour ..
My best friend... People was telling me that a friendship between a man and a woman is possible and i was laughing saying there is not even a slight chance for that to happen . Well i stopped laughing and here i am today saying how right they were and the reason is this man here on my foto, Ali. He has been there for me in hard times, real life hard times and Sl hard times, supporting me, comforting me, kicking my a@@ when i was taking the wrong turn and bringing me back straight. He stand there just listening to me hours and hours without judging me but only reminding me how strong i was so strong that i could make anything happen.
And i say is a blessing to have such a person u can call "best friend" and is an honor to have such a person in my life.
So heres to our friends, to the people that give love without asking back, to the people that are not there for us in good times but in bad times, cause in bad times we see who our friends are...
Thank you hun and i hope im able to give back a small part of the kindness and smile u give to me every signle day.

This marmot was not sure when I returned to this spot below Lake Marie in Wyoming. I originally saw several of them there in this rock pile while taking sunrise landscapes. Hiked back a little later with the long lens and saw this one that was still not sure whether I was friend or foe. Liked this initial capture of the marmot there on the rocks among the pretty flowers. Around elevation 10,500 feet.
Will follow with one of the last images taken of this cute critter after it scrambled off and watched me for a while from a high distant point ... but eventually after staying still it returned to its feeding grounds and ended up getting quite close to me.
It was also great returning to this park in late July ... last summer in 2019 in late June, this whole area was still under several feet of snow.
Friend will be always friend... (maybe)

Check out the evil stare the guy on the left is giving me, I think he thinks I was flirting with his gull friend ;) The guy walking away stole a sausage apparently. Was a tern for the wurst.
