This marmot was not sure when I returned to this spot below Lake Marie in Wyoming. I originally saw several of them there in this rock pile while taking sunrise landscapes. Hiked back a little later with the long lens and saw this one that was still not sure whether I was friend or foe. Liked this initial capture of the marmot there on the rocks among the pretty flowers. Around elevation 10,500 feet.

Will follow with one of the last images taken of this cute critter after it scrambled off and watched me for a while from a high distant point ... but eventually after staying still it returned to its feeding grounds and ended up getting quite close to me.

It was also great returning to this park in late July ... last summer in 2019 in late June, this whole area was still under several feet of snow.

A dear Flickr friend informed his followers this morning that he will be taking an extended holiday (those of you who follow him know who I speak of). With his brilliant images and continual support he will be missed!

Hi Everyone, As I have mentioned before I love the Film Noir from the 1950s and 1960s, they were cheesey and silly but also fun and gritty and make great watching on a rainy Saturday afternoon, so I wanted to do a photo inspired by my love of fashion and dark and dangerous side of Hollywood from her golden age. This guy has been hanging around and he seems like a bit of an outcast as he is often alone and doesn't really have a mob to call his own.

He has let me get close to him to take photos even though I don't want to get too close just in case he decides he doesn't want to be friends.

Anyway the other day he did deiced to take back my friend request and as I went to take a photo he came at me.

I basically shit myself and ran back into the safety of the cat yard. I can take a hint.

Old Friend - I've noticed this male Anna's Hummingbird on the same perch next to the trail the past couple years while looking for Bobcats. On this particular day, he was especially cooperative and the lighting was perfect to bring out his gorget. I really like this "angel pose" that they do before liftoff.
