We had such an amazing experience yesterday in Big Sur with 6 California Condors all in one place - many of them flying very low and impressing us with their amazing size. They were flying with Turkey Vultures, and the large size difference was very visible.
This beautiful little lady belongs to my parents' neighbour, and she's a wild little thing who never lets anyone get close to her, let alone touch her. That is, until she decided that I was her best friend. When I'm at my parents' house, she comes to the garden, calls me, and leads me to the table in a corner, asking for pets. She follows me around, meowing if I stop petting her, and she is just the sweetest little kitty. Her transformation towards me is amazing.

Found a Buck moth stuck floating in the river and pulled him into my kayak to dry his wings and hitch a ride to shore.
The pretty Persian girl got her name from her unusually round head, she was Neolinchen's best friend! She had no home and was happy to be with us, like Neolinchen she didn't want to go into the house and was quite shy, but how they loved sitting together at our front door and playing in the garden! One day she disappeared and we never saw or heard from her again...

My friend Bert by one of my stone sculptures.
I've known Bert since my early 20's and we lost touch for a while but were reunited again after he signed up for a mosaic class that I was teaching.
Bert spends some of his time here in the UK as well as in Italy near Salerno
Mans Best Friend....I went for a walk to Harlaw Reservoir in the Pentland Hills regional park. As i was ambling around looking for photos I was aware of this man with his dog. The reason it caught my attention was that the man kept stopping every three or four hundred yards to allow the old dog to catch up. When it did, the man would pet the dog and talk to it for a few minutes. If you know Harlaw reservoir you will know the point where this image was taken. Its like an olympic medal podium. When the dog reached it he was like a puppy and jumped up to the top spot. The man sat next to the dog and again petted him and talked to him for longer this time. I got the impression they were best friends and were great company for each other.
Old Friend - It was fun running into this beautiful Western Screech-Owl still doing well around a year after my original observation. A bit of a tighter crop than usual but pretty happy with the results considering how dark it was and that I had to use a 6 second exposure! I was amazingly able to autofocus in totally naturally light for this image.
