For a few days each year, we here in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, get to take a few fish from the ocean for our tables. Here we see cod being prepared for the pan. Near St. John's, NL, Canada.
A fish monger holds up a fresh sea bream at the Sunda Kelapa Pasar Ikah (outdoor fish market), Jakarta, Indonesia. The fish market is very colourful, if you can stand the smell, and contains a large variety of crustaceans and fish. The bright light and deep shadows can be difficult to work with during the day, but I was pleased with the effect I achieved photographing this man with his head partially lit up with some light reflected from a red umbrella.

"Tries" because it missed this time and came out "empty-talon'ed(?).
It did manage to surprise and scare the tricolored heron, though. Hahaha! :P

We watched this nest for an hour, watching an adult and one of the chicks as they waited for the delivery of their next meal.
Their waiting was rewarded when the missing adult delivered a nice sized panfish for their upcoming meal.
All became well very quickly as the nesting adult carved up and doled out fresh fish to the chicks.

We went into Mercado Municipal in search of vanilla in a glass bottle.
The market is roughly divided into type of offerings, fish, meat, poultry, produce, clothes, leather goods, eats, etc.
Market fish counters receive their daily supply from the local fishing fleet that returns early in the morning with their catch.
Lots of fresh fish is on display in the market.
The little fishing harbor in Mutrah is a lively spot where local fishermen bring in their daily catch. Located near the Mutrah Corniche, it’s an essential part of the community, supplying fresh fish to markets and restaurants in Muscat. At sunset, the harbor becomes even more atmospheric as fishermen sort and store their catch, like the young man here moving large fish from one freezer to another. The Corniche and surrounding mountains create a scenic backdrop – Mutrah, Muscat, Oman
I was having a late-morning 2nd cup of coffee when I got this persistent and incessant prompting: "Go to the backyard! Get your camera and go to the backyard! Now!" It was, as I said, late in the morning. The birds would have been gone by now. But the promptings wouldn't stop: "Go to the backyard. Get your camera and go to the backyard! Now!" So I went.
And this was among the many awesome sights that greeted me. I was tracking the osprey through my viewfinder, and shooting from the time it circled overhead to the time it dove for a fish, and as it flew up again and I saw that "sonic boom" of droplets, I smiled and thought to myself; "Gotcha!"
More to follow! I should really never ignore those promptings again. Ever. :D

In late evening, fisher men and fisher ladies bring their catch to the landing area in Centro and then transport it to the end user.
These two were waiting for the truck and driver for pick up.
Early mornings are great expecting to get some great sunrises, was not to be too foggy the weekend I was in Rock.
