En-Route to the Cairngorms in Scotland, driving through fresh snowfall & my trigger finger was itching. I was constantly passing these wonderful snow covered Birch trees, but could not pull over to shoot them. Eventually I found a lay-by, strapped on my gaiters and went for a walk. This image was shot handheld, iso 400 and is one of my favourite images of the year.

One of the most dynamic, busy and fun markets I have ever visited. It was intense and there were many interesting characters.

The previous night’s new snow covers the trees of this conifer forest

This is another photograph from my recent week in Yosemite Valley in late February — and a cold and snowy week it was! But that was good news during a winter that had previously bene characterized by nearly a month of no precipitation and by well above-average temperatures. Yosemite Valley is always more picturesque after (or during) snow, but the climatological backdrop made this even more true this year.

I drove down into the Valley on this morning after snowfall the night before. There wasn't a lot of snow — perhaps 4-5 inches where I had stayed overnight and no more than an inch or two in most of the Valley. But in many ways that was just about the perfect amount. On this very cold morning the snow stayed in the trees, and the thin layer still allowed the darker colors and shapes of the branches and tree trunks to be visible. As I came to this spot I noticed that the snow-lined trees were back-lit, so I stopped, wandered into the forest, and photographed... and before long the sun passed behind the upper edges of high cliffs, the area was in shade, and the opportunity was gone.

Some wonderful lush green colours out there at the moment. They look even better in overcast, cloudy days. You don't always have to wait for the sun to enjoy them.

A pair of new BNSF ES44DCs and a Norfolk Southern (former Conrail) C40-8W zip west on the east end of the Chicago Subdivision in 2005.

Rolling on the close track with an intermodal, it wasn't the best shot as most westbound moves are on the other tracks.

Oh, well.

Delivered to BNSF in January 2015, this ES44C4 has only been on the road for two months and has the fresh paint to prove it. The new GEVO is leading CSX train Q016 through Altenwald and around the curve at Fetterhoff Chapel Road. Exhaust plumes out the stacks as the ES44C4 and the trailing 20-year-old CSX AC44CW pull up the grade towards New Franklin.

Thursday evening my camera was doing its best sad puppy imitation, so I packed it up and headed down to the harbour. The blue hour colour was long gone, but the city lights cast a nice reflection across the river

for 7DoS: it was pretty fresh weather too ;)

METRO is once again chaning the looks of their vehicles. Here an H3 shows off it new paint - or lack of color. When delivered, the area between and around the headlights was black and black striping was above the side window where there is now a car number.

This area around Wheeler station will change drastically in the next three to five years as I-69 will go from a viaduct to underground though this area.

Last year our blueberry bushes did not produce ANY blueberries. This year, one of them is loaded with berries. It's still early, but I'm getting about 30 berries a day right now. It's enough for snacks or making blueberry pancakes, but I'll have to hit up the blueberry farm to have enough for muffins and pies. (That won't be for a week or two)

52 in 2025 challenge - 12. What's for lunch?

There is nothing nicer than eating Moroccan bread with some choice olives. I could live on it and, as a friend pointed out, many probably have.

Women and children would bring their own bread and cakes to have baked, some to sell, some for the family.
