While it is not a very interesting building as far as architecture is concerned, the old Boston and Maine freight house is the only railroad building still standing in the town. A small rail yard is located behind it, and in the warm weather months, the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad uses this location as one of its terminals. Summer seems a long way off on this cold February afternoon.

we brought the quad and trailer with us from Yellowknife to transport all their tools to the river, where they were transfered to the boat that was stored there. Took 3 or 4 trips.

The SBB normally uses standard locomotives for running their freight trains. Nonetheless, sometimes the local shunters (called Traktor) will go out and make short freight runs. Especially on lines, where shunting without wires is needed and no local shunter is available. So this one came most likely from Reiden and Brittnau-Wikon.

The Am843 is the standard large diesel shunting machine. A few of them are even equipped with ECTS2 control to run construction trains on the high speed lines.
