Freezing Rain hanging on the branches, taken about 2 weeks earlier, now were having a brief Summer, shot in North Carolina.
This was more of an experiment than anything. I am only a hobby photographer, my real job is an Engineer for the railroad. The wind was blowing these like crazy and I was seeing if I could freeze the motion and get a somewhat sharp usable image.
Buiten wordt het inmiddels steeds meer lente, maar van de winterplaatjes zijn jullie voorlopig nog niet af. Daar heb ik er nog bergen van liggen. Iets meer dan een maand geleden werd er nog volop geschaatst op de Hollandse wateren.

Outside it is now more and more spring, but still I have a lot of winter pictures ready to upload. Just over a month ago there was still plenty of ice skating on the Dutch waters.

Winter Patterns in Nature: lines, minimalism, distortion, reflection, abstract.
It was a relatively warm (45 degrees F; 7.2C), and sunny day in Michigan, and my first opportunity to get back into the field after several weeks. The trails were icy and deserted, silent and serene...and it was a perfect time to look closely at the beautiful patterns created by Nature.
We had freezing rain yesterday, which was followed with snow overnight. I went out this morning to take pictures (not many birds around at the time). These blades of grass extended above the snow, and were then encrusted in ice.

We just had our first major freeze in the Palouse. Streams and lake create a wonderful fog from the temperature differences. I decided to take advantage of this phenomenon at a local lake. Our fall colors are late this year. Thankfully they are showing.
