Forest paths through the freezing mist in the South Downs National Park.

Its been a while since I've been to Pirton, but the weather made it a very attractive option.

A freezing fog descended on Pirton Pool, shrouding the islands and trees in a cold and murky cloak. Ice formed where the fog touched the grasses and trees, turning them a very fetching white.

..and in case you were wondering, this is not a B&W shot, it was just that grey and gloomy!

The power is fluctuating here, but it looks nice.

All the small branches became coated in ice which looked like silver in the sunlight.

Aube glaciale

I was in Lauttasaari, Helsinki during a cold period when the Gulf of Finland shoreline was freezing. Each day brought up a new scenery as ice gained more ground. The cold temperature (around -20°C) also made photography more difficult.

Freezing sea has to be one of my favorite subjects to photograph. The small ice plates and many other formations are true art of nature!

Freezing rain and then some snow. Luckily the branches didn't get too heavy.

A tidal pool in New Brunswick beginning to freeze over. The ocean here freezes as far as the eye can see during January and only begins to thaw in April

This was more of an experiment than anything. I am only a hobby photographer, my real job is an Engineer for the railroad. The wind was blowing these like crazy and I was seeing if I could freeze the motion and get a somewhat sharp usable image.

And black Ice on the roads.

Winter Patterns in Nature: lines, minimalism, distortion, reflection, abstract.

It was a relatively warm (45 degrees F; 7.2C), and sunny day in Michigan, and my first opportunity to get back into the field after several weeks. The trails were icy and deserted, silent and serene...and it was a perfect time to look closely at the beautiful patterns created by Nature.
