Its been a while since I've been to Pirton, but the weather made it a very attractive option.
A freezing fog descended on Pirton Pool, shrouding the islands and trees in a cold and murky cloak. Ice formed where the fog touched the grasses and trees, turning them a very fetching white.
..and in case you were wondering, this is not a B&W shot, it was just that grey and gloomy!
I was in Lauttasaari, Helsinki during a cold period when the Gulf of Finland shoreline was freezing. Each day brought up a new scenery as ice gained more ground. The cold temperature (around -20°C) also made photography more difficult.
Freezing sea has to be one of my favorite subjects to photograph. The small ice plates and many other formations are true art of nature!

Freezing Rain hanging on the branches, taken about 2 weeks earlier, now were having a brief Summer, shot in North Carolina.
This was more of an experiment than anything. I am only a hobby photographer, my real job is an Engineer for the railroad. The wind was blowing these like crazy and I was seeing if I could freeze the motion and get a somewhat sharp usable image.

It was a relatively warm (45 degrees F; 7.2C), and sunny day in Michigan, and my first opportunity to get back into the field after several weeks. The trails were icy and deserted, silent and serene...and it was a perfect time to look closely at the beautiful patterns created by Nature.
