Last weekend we had the big freeze with temperatures as low as -43C at Riverwood Saturday morning.
This weekend we're in the midst of a big melt. The high today was +4C.
It's been a crazy winter!
Just a representation of February - how most of feel after a long week of freezing temps, storms and a long winter!
Happy Macro Monday!
Recently, I’ve posted several photographs that I have taken at the John R Park Homestead near Kingsville, Ontario. Well I can’t stop! This is from my most recent visit and I’m so glad I got up before the sun to capture this special moment. On this very cold morning (minus 10 celsius or more like minus 25 with the windchill factored in) the wind was gusting from the southwest and since Lake Erie is still not frozen over, the waves were crashing into the shore break wall. The result was ice coatings on everything the spray hit.
... Nothing hurts more than being disappointed by the single person you thought would never hurt you.
have a nice weekend everyone 💕
another snowstorm coming this weekend, we have a real winter this year !
View from my window - Having one of those horrible weather days in Toronto - icy roads and sidewalks, accidents, fallen electrical lines, sirens... I won't venture outside and risk a fall!
Patea, South Taranaki, NZ
This meat processing plant was established in 1893 as a cannery but converted to frozen meat in 1904. It was bought by the Vestey Group of Liverpool in 1934, a notorious tax dodging enterprise which by then was based in Brazil.
Livestock was railed in, processed, frozen and railed out with the waste dumped directly into the Patea River over which part of the plant was built. At one time it employed over 1000 people, mostly local Maori and was a huge loss to the region when it closed in 1982.
Il has only been partially demolished since its closure over 30 years ago.
Another one from yesterday morning when the world looked like a page from a fairytale book. Gisteren ochtend geschoten in het prachtige winter wonderland wat ik nu al mis.
February was the coldest on record in South Western Ontario. This photo was taken in February when the temperature varied between -20 and -37 Celsius, depending on the wind.
Jenbach is a stream and is located in Bavaria, Germany. At the food of the mountain Wendelstein you can walk along this wild stream. Very seldom it is that cold and a part of this wild stream is frozen.
The pose is from The Perfect Shot series by Gravity Poses. The poses are available for 50L in this weekend's Wanderlust Weekend. (Returning to the normal price after the weekend.)

After days of Arctic outflow weather, Snow and bitter temperatures, the outflow has been defeated by the inflow. We are now in a transition between snow and freezing rain. Heavy rain forecast for all the next week will make snort work of the snow! Here is a branch of a Japanese Maple coated in ice.
Its been a while since I've been to Pirton, but the weather made it a very attractive option.
A freezing fog descended on Pirton Pool, shrouding the islands and trees in a cold and murky cloak. Ice formed where the fog touched the grasses and trees, turning them a very fetching white.
..and in case you were wondering, this is not a B&W shot, it was just that grey and gloomy!
