Got out today despite the 20 degree weather. Filled all my bird feeders and put some suet out and I was rewarded with a yard full of birds, all hungry. This mama bluebird was waiting her turn for the male in her life to eat.
We have some bitter cold temps coming tonight with freezing rain coming in tomorrow night. Bet my feeders will be empty again really soon.
Happy rest of the weekend everybody!
Having fun with water and the frigid cold of air of -27C, freezing almost instantly. Two more in the comments.
Freezing fog occurs when the air temperature is below freezing and the water droplets in the fog become supercooled. Supercooled water droplets stay in liquid form until they come into contact with a surface they can freeze on.

Fun fact: I took this picture and another one at a 2 sec interval. This was the first one. But on the second, you can actually see the woman smiling at me.

The freezing works has used a variety of traction to shunt their coal in and meat out over my time in NZ. Here are Dsa218 Drewry 2416/52 and rare (unique on Cape Gauge) Husky RSH7908/54 in 2004

Taking an image, freezing a moment, reveals how rich reality truly is
After not even that long of a ride today, I was surprised to find:
1) my hair was frozen to my jacket
2) my bike was encased in a sheet of ice
3) my jacket and pants cracked when I moved out of my biking position, and
4) my bag was also frozen solid (check out those icicles!:)
BEST RIDE EVER!! :)

Rockville, Maryland -- on my way to work. Fortunately the sidewalks were (mostly) just wet. Thought this was a nice sort of abstract to start the day.
