To me the taller plant looks like an ice alien. I see two yellow eyes, then a brown neck and shoulders. (Freezing Rain DSC_4094.jpg)
We have so many different coloured grevilleas around the area all in bloom at the moment. They must like the cold weather as it is freezing here today. These were taken with my 75-300 mm and all three Kenko extension tubes. The first photo is a crop and the second is a full frame photo.

Yesterday was warm and breezy, this morning I woke to freezing rain. Spring is like that!

I am lucky enough to be traveling around the South West of the United States this week photographing some of its beautiful National Parks. My first sunset stop was the famous Watchman in Zion National Park. It wasn't the most exciting sunset and wasn't quite what I expected, but it was good to see this exceptional scenery and be able to photograph it.
This morning there was a freezing fog (frog) covering the trees and landscape over most of northern Nebraska making for a beautiful drive.
Now, I don't normally show pictures or comment on images of children, but this one I just had to show because of the expression on Olivia's face. These three children are my grandchildren (that is the only reason I have posted an image of children). Olivia is not crying she is tensing up as a reaction to what is coming, freezing water, and believe me it was freezing; I don't know how they played in the sea for so long, but that's kids for you. We were spending the day at Cleveleys, near Blackpool, England.

The owls weren't very active on this day. Most spent the afternoon perched on the fences and preening.
Most of us in the deep South received freezing rain during the night. This fellow told me he was grateful for the feeder. he did mention that it was half empty but he understood that I didn't want to slip slide over there just now to refill it to the top. Please view large on black.
When the temperatures are low enough (-35C) to through boiling water over your head knowing that it freezes instantly.
