The light was very good on this particular evening.
On the evening we hiked at Peets Hill, the combination of clear sky and clouds provided some dramatic lighting. The top of Peets Hill provided good positioning to capture the distant flood of low sunlight as it swept across the foothills. The clouds to the east added some suspense to the scene.
Peets Hill is a popular hiking, biking park near the downtown area of Bozeman. Although we kept our vizsla on leash, dogs are allowed to roam freely on the trails.

Beautiful light and gorgeous horses are my favourite combination. These two looked up just after this and came running over but the chesnut kept biting the other one when she would come over to me...and she has big teeth!!

Yellow is the color of my true love's hair
In the mornin', when we rise
In the mornin', when we rise
That's the time, that's the time
I love the best
Blue's the color of the sky
In the mornin', when we rise
In the mornin', when we rise
That's the time, that's the time
I love the best
Green's the color of the sparklin' corn
In the mornin', when we rise
In the mornin', when we rise
That's the time, that's the time
I love the best
Mellow is the feelin' that I get
When I see her, mm hmm
When I see her, uh huh
That's the time, that's the time
I love the best
Freedom is a word I rarely use
Without thinkin', mm hmm
Without thinkin', uh huh
Of the time, of the time
When I've been loved

"Freedom"
(Jefferson Airplane)
Oh I know they say someday time will show me
How to be so cool someday but what about right now
Please someone tell me what do I do while I'm waiting
Waiting to be so cool--someday
I know I'm not alone you know just how I feel
We both know the rules but who really knows
How to play this game?
No one will always win good losers hide the pain
They say everything's fine
No one will hear them complain
But behind those smiles, so much purple rain
It's a wonder anybody ever comes out sane but they do
And freedom it's all up to you
When you're by yourself you get that silent noise
Inside your mind all the party boys trying to fill up
All the empty holes don't let one be her soul
Freedom now you're on your own
Freedom or does it really mean you're just all alone
Freedom either way it's gonna take you home
It just takes you by the hand and says
Now it's time to grow
So my friend you're gonna be alright
Seems like it's all uphill
But then that's the only way to get high
Someday your soul is gonna fly
But don't look back 'cause that's a waste of time
And right now's the time for you to look inside
And you'll see love--love has never gone away
Freedom I've been standing still so long
Freedom I almost forgot you had a song
Freedom shine your light and let us begin
Just take me in our arms I wanna be free again
Originally created for deer hunting, Richmond Park now has 630 red and fallow deer that roam freely within much of the park. A cull takes place each November and February to ensure numbers can be sustained about 200 deer are culled annually and the meat is sold to licensed game dealers. Some deer are also killed in road accidents, through ingesting litter such as small items of plastic, or by dogs; three deer were killed by dogs in 2012.Many of the deer in Richmond Park are infected with a bacterium called Borrelia burgdorferi which can be transmitted to humans through a tick bite, causing Lyme disease.
The park is an important refuge for other wildlife, including woodpeckers, squirrels, rabbits, snakes, frogs, toads, stag beetles and many other insects plus numerous ancient trees and varieties of fungi. It is particularly notable for its rare beetles.
Richmond Park supports a large population of what are believed to be ring-necked (or rose-ringed) parakeets. These bred from birds that escaped or were freed from captivity.

Dancing in the Dark
(Amy macdonald)
I get up in the evenin'
And I ain't got nothin' to say
I come home in the mornin'
I go to bed feelin' the same way
I ain't nothin' but tired
Man, I'm just tired and bored with myself
Hey there, baby, I could use just a little help
You can't start a fire
You can't start a fire without a spark
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancin' in the dark
Messages keeps gettin' clearer
Radio's on and I'm movin' 'round my place
I check my look in the mirror
Wanna change my clothes, my hair, my face
Man, I ain't gettin' nowhere
I'm just livin' in a dump like this
There's somethin' happenin' somewhere
Baby, I just know that there is
You can't start a fire
You can't start a fire without a spark
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancin' in the dark
You sit around gettin' older
There's a joke here somewhere and it's on me
I'll shake this world off my shoulders
Come on, baby, this laugh's on me
Stay on the streets of this town
And they'll be carvin' you up alright
They say you gotta stay hungry
Hey baby, I'm just about starvin' tonight
I'm dyin' for some action
I'm sick of sittin' 'round here tryin' to write this book
I need a love reaction
Come on now, baby, gimme just one look
You can't start a fire
Sittin' 'round cryin' over a broken heart
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancin' in the dark
You can't start a fire
Worryin' about your little world fallin' apart
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancin' in the dark
Even if we're just dancin' in the dark
Even if we're just dancin' in the dark
Even if we're just dancin' in the dark
Hey baby

Paint the Sky With Stars
(Enya)
Suddenly before my eyes
Hues of indigo arise
With them how my spirit sighs
Paint the sky with stars
Only night will ever know
Why the heavens never show
All the dreams there are to know
Paint the sky with stars
Who has placed the midnight sky
So a spirit has to fly?
As the heavens seem so far now,
Who will paint the midnight star?
Night has brought to those who sleep
Only dreams they cannot keep
I have legends in the deep
Paint the sky with stars
Who has placed the midnight sky
So a spirit has to fly?
As the heavens seem so far now,
Who will paint the midnight star?
Place a name upon the night
One to set your heart alight
And to make the darkness bright
Paint the sky with stars.

"Beyond My Wildest Dreams" (Mark Knopfler Lyrics)
I didn't ask for as much
As maybe I ought've
But I'm staying in touch
With the one I love
And I can see in the dials
And in these headlight beams
Beyond my wildest
Beyond my wildest dreams
Beyond my wildest dreams
Beyond my wildest dreams I've been with you
I've been with you
These are the big pay loads
Hammer down on the floor
These are the restless roads
Every one at war
But in the flashing lines
I see a love supreme
Beyond my wildest
Beyond my wildest dreams
Beyond my wildest dreams
Beyond my wildest dreams I've been with you
I've been with you
They promised me some good home time
And some layover pay
The agent, he's a friend of mine
Says it's due my way
I'd drive a thousand miles
Haul a trailer of tears
Just to see you smile
And as the dawn appears
At the edge of the night
There's still a light that gleams
Beyond my wildest
Beyond my wildest dreams
Beyond my wildest dreams
Beyond my wildest dreams I've been with you
Beyond my wildest dreams
Beyond my wildest dreams
Beyond my wildest dreams I've been with you
I've been with you

In the spring I let the dandelions grow freely in my backyard and garden, because the bees are hungry and no other flowers are yet in bloom. A month later, most trees are flowering, as well as my chives, currant and caragana bushes... so the bees have more options. I spend the next month digging out the dandelions.
It's backbreaking work, but I like honey - believe it or not - in my coffee. I picked up this habit in 1970 in Vancouver. I had never drunk coffee at home, but on my own for the first time, some junkies introduced me to it, and they took it with honey, so I did likewise. ("Junkies" - I know, I know. They lived next door. I never used. A drag queen lived upstairs. It was quite an education. I was reading Jack Kerouac and William S. Burroughs, and writing bad poetry.) In self-defence, I will add that I like my coffee black. The old Turkish saying comes to mind: Coffee should be strong as hell, sweet as love, and black as death. But I digress.
The additional perk of allowing the dandelions and bees to thrive, of course, is an occasional photo op. Sprawled on the grass, from time to time kicking out a leg so the neighbours will know I'm not dead, I get down and dirty and into the six-legged world with my macro lens. This spring I made an effort to get a good shot of a bee's pollen baskets, something I don't think I'd ever done. Here it is.

Points of Disability
Things aren't going well I'll freely admit
that the price of health far outweighs
the blows pain deals to all one feels
for the hope I can no longer situate
now that life has lost it's wheels
I'll paddle my thoughts across the water
like a sitar sounding through the air
such senses are no longer lost
but rather found in the solace of it's own tracery
where four emotive poles have crossed
this is my one escape like no other, please understand
for no other venture is any longer possible
the disablement of reduplication is damning
and my spirit is on it's very last legs if at all
as misunderstandings prove the most wounding
time was once in my possession and grasp
light and free, the very expanse of possibility
a nursery of amazement and departure
is now within earshot again as paralysis reigns
the haunt of incapacious horror
now my eyes see clearer through the immobile space
moving to the other side is as uneasy as unexpected
from one to another I pass with inclining silence
non other than a longing for peace and time alone
to come to terms with such disabling imbalance
nobody can comprehend the numbing pronouncement
of medical mind diagnosing osteological greyness
ousting a health I thought was only in the mind
now I'm free to fall in pulsific melancholy
for the path I now know I shall never again find
it's near impossible to describe such adverse feelings
mind-ready and body-unable is pure hell, at times
the world sees a fresh face and expects full faculties
yet beneath the surface it can never be, please understand
for such faults of body nobody ever foresees
a fractured skeleton of modern-day griping
speaking the mind of the one that now hovers above
through the silhouette at dusk
that's me, this is my lot, please understand
that escapism is merely a soul for the husk.

I will freely admit that as well as having a lifelong interest in railways, when I was younger I collected train numbers. There is still a number crunching train spotter in me somewhere as I am always interested in identifying my photographic rail subjects.
One aspect that has never grabbed my attention though is the collection of numbers of freight stock. You only really come across this on large stations, as seen here at Doncaster. A group of four chaps are seen avidly reading out the wagon numbers into their mobile phones. What crosses my mind is that virtually all freight trains are comprised of the same rake of wagons in their consist, so you see one wagon and therefore you see the rest that are semi permanently coupled.
Incidentally the passenger service standing at the platform is operated by Azuma unit 800 105. I haven't a clue what the passenger car numbers are but you can bet your bottom dollar these chaps will have also recorded their numbers.
I have uploaded this image to show another aspect of the rail enthusiast fraternity, and not to have a pop at their interest.

BLUE
Blue, songs are like tattoos
You know I've been to sea before
Crown and anchor me
Or let me sail away
Hey Blue, there's a song for you
Ink on a pin
Underneath the skin
An empty space to fill in
Well there're so many sinking now
You've got to keep thinking
You can make it thru these waves
Acid, booze, and ass
Needles, guns, and grass
Lots of laughs, lots of laughs
Everybody's saying that hell's the hippest way to go
Well I don't think so
But I'm gonna take a look around it though
Blue, I love you
Blue, here is a shell for you
Inside you'll hear a sigh
A foggy lullaby
There is your song from me

There are lotta monkeys roaming freely at Batu Caves, Selangor. They somehow know how to behave and foods can be in abundance for them when visitors would eagerly feed them at any opportune.
Batu Caves is a limestone hill, which has a series of caves and cave temples, located in Gombak district, 13 km north of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It takes its name from the Sungai Batu or Batu River, which flows past the hill. Batu Caves is also the name of the nearby village.
The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is the focal point of Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia which attracts over 1.5 million pilgrims yearly, making it one of the largest annual gatherings anywhere in the world.
This is NOT a bunny in a cage. This bunny roams freely outside in our neighborhood, in other words this is wild nature, even though it's just a bunny,

A very special shoot high up in the Dolomites, with the best model I could have asked for. No fee, just paid in grass.
At 2500 meters above sea level, the cows roam almost freely. The spectacular mountain scenery makes for an incredible natural backdrop. For me, this was something very different compared to shooting with a telephoto lens down in the valley. I wanted to create photos that feel new, unexpected, and real. Not like staged studio portraits, but spontaneous and direct.
I spent over an hour slowly approaching until they barely noticed me. At first, they are curious but cautious. Over time, you become boring to them, and that’s when you can get really close. But never forget, these are not zoo animals. A cow weighs 700 to 800 kilograms, and every year, more people die from cows than from great white sharks.
I absolutely wanted to shoot with an ultra wide-angle lens. That means getting extremely close, sometimes just 15 centimeters from their nose, and crouching low on the ground. Most of the time, they just eat grass. You wait and wait, staying in position, hoping for that one moment. It's always risky being that low and that close to something that heavy. And you must never lose sight of the boss cow with horns. If she feels threatened, things can change in seconds.
Would I do it again? Probably not anytime soon. I don’t want to push my luck. But that’s exactly why these photos feel so special. They’re different, alive, and refreshingly real.
Sometimes, you just have to let go and try something completely new. Many would have pulled out a telephoto and taken the same old shot. But it’s worth breaking habits. That’s how fresh and unusual perspectives are born.

I'm going home
(Buffy Sainte Marie)
Heaven isn't so far away as people say
I got a home high in my heart
Heaven is right where I come from
I never throw it away
I know the place and I'm going home
I'm going home
I'm going home
See up there it's not the same
They know your name
And I'm not ashamed to need it
I'm going home
I'm going home
You keep on a-knocking
I'm not coming out of this state I'm in
I'm traveling right, I'm gonna get there soon
I'm standing up praying
I'm singing, saying, "Hey-yo, ha-ha, hey-yo, ha, hey-ya"
I know the way and I'm going home
I'm going home
That's where the heart can rest
The best is there
And only a fool would leave it
I'm going home
I been around, I been to town
Hey, where you think I learned right from wrong?
I'm going home
I'm going home
Ils connaissent ton nom

Long Time
Freely inspired by:
t's been a long time comin'
It's goin' to be a long time gone.
Appears to be a long time,
Yes, a long, long, log time
Before the dawn.
Turn, turn any corner.
Hear, you must hear what the people say,
You know there's something that's goin' on here,
That surely, surely, surely won't stand the light of day.
And it appears to be a long,
Such a long, long, long time before the dawn.
Speak out, you got to speak out against
The madness, you got to speak your mind,
If you dare.
But don't try to get yourself elected.
If you do you had better cut your hair.
'Cause it appears to be a long time,
Before the dawn.
It's been a long time comin',
It's been a long time gone.
But you know, the darkest hour,
Is always just before the dawn.
And it appears to be a long time,
Such a long, long, long time before the dawn.
