I spotted this beautifully coloured hover-fly resting above my pond in Bristol today!
It took me several attempts to capture this image, because as I closed in, this fly would do what its name suggests and flew off!
It's amazing what is lurking around in our gardens !!! This little insect measures about 12 mm in length and was very fast flying!

Last night was the first hard freeze in NE Oklahoma, so went to a low area near water and found the plants that create Ice Ribbons, this is natures delicate art, in a few more minutes they will be gone with sun out and temperatures rising. This old streetcar is one we see each time we drive down towards Hamilton. It stands in a farmers field in Morriston and many people recognize this landmark when they travel Highway 6 south.

My friend who runs the local charity shop (and knows about my love for snails) swears by this stuff and loves its moisturising effect on her skin. So I got a bottle, figuring that at the very least it would be useful for a photograph. But it really does make your skin feel soft and smooth, not in the least bit slimy. And I am convinced I now look 20 years younger - this is due to the presence of hyaluronic acid in the mucus, and at my age I need all the help I can get!
No snails were harmed in the making of this mucin.

This is a net in which fruits are packed. The detail is 2.5 cm in the original. I photographed the net so that in the second layer the network was blurred and the light was reflected. In the background is a turquoise sheet of paper for colour contrast. /

Ich habe so viel schöne verrostete Dinge gefunden ... ich konnte mich sehr schwer entscheiden. Nun, dies ist ein Detail eines verrosteten Raspel-/Hobel-Blatts. Ich konnte auch nicht der Versuchung widerstehen, Barbie wieder einzusetzen ;-)

A quick decision today, because I did not want to come up with the 101st spice mill (though it has a nice stylized cutlery/lily emblem on it), or yet another soap dispenser. I've seen so many fine captures of both today already.
This is the crumb collector of my toaster, and it smiled at me when I removed the crumbs today after breakfast, so it goes to the group's pool for "Bottom Up". Size: 2,71654 x 1,37795 inches (6,9 x 3,5 cm).

Ich wollte nicht die zigste Gewürzmühle hochladen (obwohl das Glas am Boden ein hübsches stilisiertes "Messer-&-Gabel-Lilien"-Emblem hat), oder noch einen Spüli-/Seifenpender. Es gibt schon so viele gute Fotos davon.
Dies ist die Unterseite der Krümelschublade meines Toasters, sie lachte mich heute nach dem Frühstück so freundlich an, also kommt sie in die Gruppe. Maße: 6,9 x 3,5 cm.
