I've been nominated for the 2014 London Model Awards, in the category of "Best Art Scene Model." Please vote for me, if you feel I might be worthy....I've never been nominated for anything before, so I thought I should give it my best shot.

I've helpfully added drawings to the Vote page, above, to indicate how you can vote. (Not that I'm suggesting to anybody who to vote for...:)The link is below- it takes about 2 secs to vote.

Doing a photo essay and reflection piece with Amy. She told me her heart and mind come together when she is in nature. Unfortunately, I was on a deadline and couldn't wait for the snow to disappear.

So we went to the McNeely Conservatory at the Como Zoo. She had never been there, so her facial expressions and body langues were a "de novo" reaction.to what she saw, and our running dialogue.

We talked about her life in a small town, and her yen to go to the "big city". She graduates this December 2019 and plans to go to grad school in virology.

She said, "I like miniature things."

The audio we recorded I am going to have adjacent to the photo that reflects the moods and her reaction to that point in our conversation.

Below her quote, I am going to do a reflection piece . . . Don't know what that is going to look like, but it is a "WIP" work in process. I'm not even sure that I will use these photos in the essay.

She just did her thing, I followed engaged in dialogue and "shot" when things when there seemed to be a frission . . . connection . So while these may look "posed" . . . they aren't . . . The accompanying text will tie everything together. At least that's the plan.

But for the Flickr folks, I'll be posting various pix from this shoot.

Used a Tamaron 24-70mm, 2.8, AF and image stabilization which gave me a 4-stop advantage since I could not use a tripod or lighting. It's a great lens and the difference between that and the Canon 24-70mm L lens is the Tamaron is substantionally less expensive,

Plus the Tamaron has vibration control, and is tack sharp without a discernible difference between it and the Canon equivalent. It's heavy rascal as you might expect with excellent build quality.

Partner... how about an Innocent Crush notebook cover? And yesterday I found grid composition notebooks... just right for a quilt sketch book :)

Woohooo! I finished my quilt and hung it up yesterday! :)

One large improvisational-pieced log cabin block. It's about 66" x 80" (that's when I felt I was finished, and I was running out of fabrics.) Getting up to this size quilt makes me realize that I do really need a clothesline - to hang quilts for photography!

This is just the top, now it just needs to be quilted

I just cant get enough of these! I've been hoarding them and waiting for the perfect project that gives me enough gumption to actually cut into them...

They look so nice sitting on my shelf, I can only imagine how much I will love them in a quilt top someday!

Flea Market Fancy prints by Denyse Schmidt for Freespirit Fabrics.

Pattern is a FREE Denyse Schmidt Pattern posted on the FreeSpirit website:

freespiritfabric.com/graphic-elements/gallerys/t260_1.pdf

I made my quilt larger by adding an additional row and column.

Fabrics used: Entire collection of Hope Valley by Denyse Schmidt and Robert Kaufman Kona Solid in Snow & Ivory.

Back: Calico Cactus from Denyse Schmidt in Fiesta

Binding: Robert Kaufman Kona Solid in Snow

Lesson Learned: Sewing Instructions #2 says to "trim 4 of the blocks 1/4" past the center point on the short side of the block to make the half blocks". Trim to 1/2" !!!!! It will make your life a whole lot easier . It also shows 1/2" on Diagram 2.

Using my scraps from my simple block quilt I made my mother this little lap quilt. The quilt was made from Heather Bailey's freshcut line. The brown and white border fabric was purchased at Jo-Anns (Quilter's Cotton that I purchased with a half off coupon).
