Cool and damp this morn !

Unfortunately the German name of this beautiful orchid is not as conclusive as the English one (to be honest I suspect the German name was made up by a stoned professor flicking through a dictionary). So I didn't think to sniff, again. According to various sources on the internet it smells like cinnamon.

A native American azalea. Label not found, but almost certainly collected in North Carolina highlands. Now blooming at the UC Botanical Garden. 😊

She was a kind woman and a loyal member of my groups.

The next theme of Smile on Saturday! :-) is dedicated to Marcy.

We have a bank of these very fragrant roses under our master bedroom window. When the breeze blows in it picks up this beautiful scent and spreads it through the room. So very nice.

This poison ivy doppelganger is one of my favorite sources of fall color in these parts. Note the direct connection of leaflets at the base of the stem, where poison ivy would have stems that offset them. Glendale, Missouri

This one decided to produce lots of flowers and I thought it deserved a photo. This was taken by my phone. the phone has struggled with the colour and its a fair bit off! It should be more red than pink!
