July 7, 2009 EXPLORE#64

While baking and using some local, fresh eggs we get from friends I admired their beauty. I appreciated their amazing, natural-looking, refreshing colors, how they are fragile, beautiful, and—to me—worthy of photographing. These eggs and their broken shells tell me a beautiful, relatable story. They may be considered broken, may even seem useless, and they still have worth, beauty and purpose.

this photo-shoot was the most fun her and i have had together in ages!

im not sure what you'll think of this, so tell me, tell me! i am in need of more feedback, please!

maybe i should boost up the sharpness? or does it suit the softness?

And another picture of a blade of grass...

I found this fragile plume caught between barb wire when walking to work and I just loved the contrast between the two. Straight vs bent, sharp vs soft and man made vs nature.

Pewits Nest (WI)

Here's yet another photo I took at Pewit's Nest, my favorite place in Wisconsin. I've shot this scene in the winter and fall before, and here is the summer version! Looks like in the summer, the sun rises just about inside the canyon, whereas in the other seasons it is outside. Hopefully next spring I'll get a decent photo here so I can put all four of them together.

This photo is named after the famous 1972 album by Yes. It happened to come up when I was editing this photo, and the name made me think about how many people I see visiting Pewit's Nest compared to just a few years ago. Nature can be fragile, and I hope the influx of people here can take care of it.

This is why I love film. No edit, nothing, just straight out of the camera.

Verso sera si accendono i colori...

un rosso intenso, un dolce arancione, un fragile rosa...

e tu rimani lì, minuto dopo minuto...

ad osservare quel lento calare...

sognando mille colori...

fino a domani, quando un nuovo spettacolo arriverà...

Towards evening light colors ...

a deep red, sweet orange, a fragile pink ...

and you stay there, minute after minute ...

to observe that slow decline ...

dreaming many colors ...

until tomorrow, when a new show comes ...
