7th May 2018. Fowler Midland Class 4F 0-6-0 No.43924 climbs out of Oxenhope tender first with the first train of the day to Keighley. For me I think this was the start of the Great British Heatwave as I would spend the next twelve weeks on the Keighley And Worth Valley Railway.

This photograph was taken on the 30th May 2016 and shows LMS 5P/4F 2-6-0 No.13065 The Crab at Bury South Signal Box. Designed by George Hughes, Chief Mechanical Engineer of the LMS and built at the ex-L&YR works at Horwich and the ex-LNWR works at Crewe, they were put into service by his successor, Henry Fowler. No.13065 was one from twenty-one made at Crewe in 1927. The railway is part of the East Lancashire Railway.
Huddersfield Fowler tank at Copley hill still had a further years service before being withdrawn.

I have wanted to post this shot for so long, but life is keeping me busy lately and I am so sorry for neglecting flickr... I hope to make more time in the next few weeks to post and comment more.
This shot was taken on our Australia tour in a very small town called Fowlers Bay in Western Australia, famous for its massive sand dunes bordering the coast line. We made it up one dune, thinking we made it to the top, just to discover another huge one to follow.

Have a fantastic weekend!
The unique and presumably not well-liked or successful, Marshall Fowler 0-4-0 diesel-mechanical 'No.1' (Works No.4120001 built in 1949), dumped out of use at CEGB Skelton Grange Power Station, Leeds, on 6th August 1971. By this time the generating station was using three six-coupled Yorkshire Engine locomotives.

The only narrow gauge Fowler diesel locomotive to work in industry in Bedfordshire was 3930044/50 at Sundon Cement Works, near Luton. Bought new, it was out of use in November 1974, as seen here, passing to Brockham Museum later that month. It turned up later at the Gloddfa Ganol 'museum', the exhibits of which were later dispersed. Where is it now??

*1977 Plane Crash: took the lives of band leader and vocalist, Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, vocalist Cassie Gaines, road manager Dean Kilpatrick as well as both pilots, and seriously injured the surviving band members and crew. Artimus Pyle, who had a broken sternum from the impact, used his Marine Corp training and survival instincts to find and bring help to his critically injured friends in the densely wooded thicket. His band plays their songs in tribute to them. (Lynyrd Skynyrd band's original member and drummer)

Running the loop on platform three at Keighley Station is LMS 4F 0-6-0 No.43924 before it re-joins its train of carriages for the last train of the day to Oxenhope. I captured this image on the 24th July 2017 and the railway is part of the Keighley And Worth Valley Railway.
The 36th King Alfred Running Day took place on May Day bank holiday 2019. The event is based in Winchester and attracts around 40 buses and coaches operating a large number of routes throughout the day.
I took some photos in Hursley, Otterbourne, Sutton Scotney and Winchester, trying to avoid the extremely busy Broadway terminus.
Built by Fowler in 1886 for a quarry tramway in Kiama NSW that never eventuated, 5265 was sold to contractors in Queensland and worked on construction of the government rail lines. In 1898 the loco was transported to Tasmania where it worked on construction of the Macquarie Harbour breakwater and then was stored long term at the Hobart Railway Station.
Don River have preserved the loco and is photographed here inside the Don River Railway sheds under maintenance on 14-10-13
