A forecast of rain and snow turned into a forecast of awesome. ;-)

The forecast for the overnight temperature tonight (Sunday) and tomorrow night (Monday) is for 33 degrees Fahrenheit ... which means it may actually dip below the 32-degree freezing point. An overnight freeze would almost certainly ruin any fruit or vegetables left uncovered in the backyard ... and even if covered, the produce still might be damaged.

So first thing after Bill and I got back home from church, I went into the backyard and picked everything seen here sitting atop the kitchen counter (except for the stuff on that tiered stand in the background and that big acorn squash that Bill bought at the supermarket).

What I harvested this afternoon:

> 19 D'Anjou Pears

> 2 Cantaloupes (not shown; sitting in the kitchen window)

> 29 Red Tomatoes (not quite ripe, but will ripen indoors)

> 16 Cherry Tomatoes (the small orange ones)

> 15 Green Beans (I previously picked 85 in the last week)

> 24 Bell Peppers

> 4 Zucchini Squash

> 1 Cucumber (very small, unlike the bigger ones harvested 2 days ago).

Bill and I also used several old sheets to cover the tomato, squash, and bell pepper plants in the yard, all of which still have small, immature fruit on them, in case proves to be enough to keep the plants' roots and vines from freezing and thus keeps the fruit from being spoiled during these next 2 very cold nights.

How sad that patches for blue jeans rarely match in color or texture.

A glitch in their forecasting program?

ok, so i broke the rules.

i know you're not supposed to go button-shopping until you've got a FO to reward yourself with, but somehow i found myself at windsor button this weekend. i managed to engage the behind-the-counter button-plucking duties of a patient staffer who pretty much has the arduous job of helping customers select from a (give-or-take) MAZILLION types of button items. it's a little crazy.

anyway, i'm so happy with these. they're a warm olive, and with a little wood-grain-esque variation in them. can't tell if they're wood or plastic, but they're very sophisticated, and bring out the green in the sweater. the ancient fern, if you will.

i'm at the ribbing section of sleeve one. the hard and rock place of sleeves -- seaming or in-the-round. both have their ups and downs... i'm lucky i have short arms! :)

A collaboration between UCL Urban Laboratory and artist collective Fourthland, The Storm took place in the Utopia Treasury of Somerset House on 29 June 2016.

The Storm is a performance weaving together layers of narratives within regeneration, urban planning and grass-roots movements into a participatory re-enactment. The piece responds to the increasing privatisation of public spaces and the sanitization of interaction; and the potent viewpoints of human interaction, collective action and the activities that stabilize the local people economy. Current forecast is below the probabilistic projections from the end of March. We may get lucky. Peak is expected to be sometime between Sunday and Wednesday. Speculation is that more water is going into the ground than expected. But rain forecast for this weekend could cause problems.
