Bob Fehan loves to create custom vehicles and after 35 years in the business, it was time to make a custom tailgate vehicle. Fehan worked hard and debuted his creation, the "Travel inn" , at the 2009 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas. "To make this custom vehicle, I used the Ford Transit Connect van as my starting point," said Fehan. It has the verstility to many different types of users such as soccer moms, the avid sportsman, and the football or Nascar tailgater" The Transit Connect Travel inn van was one of the big hits at the 2009 SEMA show. Because of the raised roof it allows the room for many options. These include;
A complete sliding bedslide kitchen with Solaire Rasmussen inferred grill, Edgestar cooler and beer tapper, Thatford Norcold refrigerator, Bed slide upper bunk bed, Concept and visualogic DVD screens.
The vehicle comes complete with Sportz two room attached tent, Grant products body kit, spoiler and steering wheel, Ford Works in vehicle computer, BBS wheels, Bridgestone tires, Winona PVD chrome on wheels, PPG Red Fire pearl custom paint from GNE and Imagequest graphics, "The Ford Transit Connect Travel inn van was designed for people who love to tailgate, travel and are alwayson the go" Owners can truly do it all in this van with the varierty of custom configurations that I offer. I've been waiting a long time for a vehicle like this one that is great on the pocket book due to its awesome fuel economy.

Nottinghamshire Fire And Rescue has has 4 Transit Connects: FJ57 CXL, FJ57 CXN, FJ57 CXM and FJ57 CXO. Unfortunatly I forgot to take down the registration of this Transit Connect so it could be any one! I came back later when I realised my mistake but it had gone. Well there is a lesson to learn for next time!

On our way to an assignment as volunteers in an alpine hut. We had to bring with us every tool we imagined we would have to use. And a huge ladder and such on the roof. And - as you can see - our two bikes.
Do you see the car's knees buckle? I don't!
My husband was a bit nervous about the roadability. In fact you could feel that this car was obviously build for such a heavy load. To get to the alpine hut we had to drive a few kms of bad way with some cross drains and bumps. And we bounced much less inside the car as if the car is empty or has normal camping stuff in it. (Oh - we LOVE bouncing! Not that we would critisize the car for it's strong springs!)
We also had imagined that we would have to stay behind all the trucks on the highway. In fact we had no problem travelling in a "normal" speed (which for us means up to 140km/h). The car took us even into the highest mountains (Großglocknerstraße) with no problem at all (even though we don't have the strong machine) and took 8,5l Diesel/100 kms. Which is quite ok methinks.
From a 20 vehicle set found recently in a French Geant Casino where Maisto Fresh Metal are sold in sets and singles. Full credit for them to model this popular European van/MPV and a casting which has proven popular with collectors who yearn for something more than the ugly customised HW equivalent. Mint and boxed.
Model built using the Oxford Diecast Ford Transit Connect van. This photo shows the model with the slim line clear light bar fitted.

Even then there was enough room for our huge new tent and the camping stuff we would use on our way to the alps. In a heavy rainstorm we could even put our two chairs inside the car (of course we had to get the camping stuff out, but not the tool department).
Despite its retool which saw more plastic appear, the Hot Wheels Ford Transit Connect can still look decent when given the right livery, colour choice and wheel design. I would say this very latest 2021 recolour ticks those boxes. Part of a small Case F haul found recently at B&M Bargains. Mint and boxed.
The brand new Guernsey Police van. Spotted this parked up and had to stop my car and take some pics.
Converted to Black & White with the colour for the van restored.

Some fresh recolours are now appearing in the budget orientated Maisto Fresh Metal line up including this rather queasy coloured EV Battery Services Ford Transit Connect.
Apart from its lack of interior I actually rather like this casting, far more stock than the HW equivalent and certainly better detailed! Found recently in a French Super U. Mint and boxed.
I thought space engineering involved a special air tight suit with an oxygen feed, a complicated craft, a huge ground based backup team and a multi million dollar budget.
But apparently all you need is a Ford Transit Connect van and a folding step ladder.

The Hot Wheels take on the Ford Transit Connect was deliberately meant to be customised and reflected a real vehicle they made in conjunction with Ford for the 2013 SEMA motor show. Its debut colour was accurate to the full sized version but obviously this casting has to earn its keep and so for 2017 we got it in this playful and dare I say believable Pizza Express livery. Bought from ASDA back in February 2017. Mint and boxed.

Originally based on a real Hot Wheels show van though obviously that original authentic blue colour has long since been replaced by its various subsequent recolours.
This is its brand new 2023 Case H release and despite it being in the unloved Art Cars sub series I actually like the intricate artwork and sage green body colour.
Found recently at Morrisons.
Mint and boxed.
