A last minute KAP session with PanoKAP and AlanKAP from the French KAP Forum in the business district of La Défense, west of Paris.
Very unstable wind, a difficult light and a siberian temperature (cold enough for the batteries of my rig to stop after a few minutes...)

Nicolas, alias PanoKAP (he makes great 360°, check his site on www.insideparis.fr ) is trying to launch his flowform but the wind was rather unstable in the first 50 meters.

The drouge is very effective at stabilising yaw and roll movements of the kite but at a price of a reduced angle to the flying line (less lift). This pasted up diagram gives an idea of the effect of the drouge on the ff30s attitude: It not only lowers the angle of the kite to the flying line but also tips up its leading edge. I fly the drouge at 5m behind the kite.
The trusty Bft 4 option, flown drogued it copes with all manner of tugging breezes. It's been modified according to Becot. More on my KAP kites here billboyheritagesurvey.wordpress.com/2011/04/22/the-4-kite...

First successful (maiden) flight of my Invento-HQ Flow Foil 5.0.
Thanks to J00st PE1RMN who made this video with his cell phone.
After about 50 minutes of unsuccessful attempts, I finally managed to get a small gust to get my new HQ Flowform 2.0 (about 32 sq ft, 2.0 represents sq m) airborne from the garden at home. My trusty FF16 wouldn't lift and I broke yet another rod on my Rok when assembling it and have no spares until my KAPshop order arrives in the next few days :-(
Despite the extra surface area I was really surprised as to how easy the pull on the line was. The wind was a steady Bft 4 from the south and I expected quite a battle but it was a pleasant session.
Another surprise was that the flying angle was lower than my FF16. This meant that I could let out all the line (285 winds or loops in on the hoop when I was done taking pictures!!)
The only disappointment about the kite is that the design is upside down in my opinion. I get to see black and white from the ground. Anything looking down on the kite gets to see the colours of the rainbow. Don't you think that is odd?
