Delighted to get back to the 4x5 after a gap of several months. For the first two exposures I turned the ground-glass holder in the opposite direction from what I usually do, and consequently put the film holders into the camera the wrong way around, and then wondered why they didn't seem to fit quite right. So I've wasted those plus a few other sheets of film, but feel like I'm getting back into the flow again.

Even on a warm and sunny day, this unending winter hangs on... While melted snow thunders over Upper Cataract Falls, that stubborn ice lingers in the middle of the falls.

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”

The fountains of the Grand Cascade are located below the grotto and on either side of it. Their waters flow into a semicircular pool, the terminus of the fountain-lined Sea Channel. In the 1730s, the large Samson Fountain was placed in this pool. It depicts the moment when Samson tears open the jaws of a lion, representing Russia's victory over Sweden in the Great Northern War, and is doubly symbolic. The lion is an element of the Swedish coat of arms, and one of the great victories of the war was won on St Samson's Day. From the lion's mouth shoots a 20-metre-high vertical jet of water, the highest in all of Peterhof. This masterpiece by Mikhail Kozlovsky was looted by the invading Germans during the Second World War. A replica of the statue was installed in 1947. - wikipedia
