"Liminal Float," created by Duncan Rawlinson, explores the latent space through contemporary photography and artificial intelligence imaging techniques. The image captures a serene, surreal moment of tranquility, where the boundaries of reality and imagination blur into a vibrant and peaceful scene. Through this blend of modern photography and AI, Rawlinson invites viewers to experience the mysterious and reflective nature of this tranquil space.

My first attempt at making a person float. Not a great first attempt but this gave me the general idea how how to create these images. I found it really difficult to balance on the stool and it hurt my stomach quite a lot to try and hold myself in a 'falling' position, I will try these again very soon but with a higher stool or possibly a board so i can position myself a lot better, I think these pictures would have looked a lot more realistic if it wasn't for my position. Practise makes perfect.

The Davis & Elkins College float was presented the Parade Marshal’s Award in the Mountain State Forest Festival Grand Feature Parade on Saturday. The “mini” Gatehouse was built to scale by members of the Department of Fine & Performing Arts.

This is the only real float in the parade. The Western Day Parade lasted over 1 1/2 hours. The parade consised of alot of trucks, cars, motorcycles, and horses. Alot of candy was thrown and kids would run in the street to pick it up. Kids left with bags of candy they picked up.
During the late 19th century and early 20th, some homes of the wealthy had outdoor dineing areas that had seating around a built in pond. Guests passed the food by pushing wooden bowls to their friends.

I think I incorporated all three groups today, haven't done that in awhile. Ahhh how liberating days off are! Also working on my photoshop skillz. I don't think I pulled this off as well as cloning, but I am working on it.
Does anyone know how I could add drop shadows back into it?
TOTW: My Secret life - I wish I had some kind of super power. Being able to float or fly would probably be one of the coolest super power abilities ever. If I could float I know I would do it every day :)

Jen invited me and Steph (and Michael, but he stayed home sick - that's what happens when you work 22 days in a row. You get sick and miss parties. My poor sweet husband. I'm glad he got the night to rest. Anyway...) over to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade floats get all blowed up. But it was super cold outside, so we just curled up on the couch with cocktails instead. :-)
Taken in June 2011, at the Duck Brand, Duct Tape Festival in Avon Lake, OH. All of the floats for the parade were made entirely of duct tape...this one was my personal favorite. I've been wanting to print this since it was first developed...took me a while, but I finally got around to it. I believe that this was the first roll of film that I self-developed.
Camera: Holga 120N, developed in Diafine. I don't recall the film used.
Print: Adorama Variable Contrast, Resin Coated paper, enlarged at f/11, 10.5 seconds, developed in Kodak Dektol, stock, for one minute.
Making prints, is really helping to increase my understanding of not only starting with a properly exposed negative, but also the importance of setting up or composing the shot with printing (or whatever the end product) in mind. It's not that I don't already know that on some level, but printing makes it all a little more concrete for me. My case in point, is a shot that I took a long time ago, and has been on my list to make a print of. Unlike this image, I didn't want to use a sloppy border, even though the image had a slight whimsical nature to it. I realized immediately, when I put the negative in the enlarger that there was too much sky in the image, and ultimately the sky would just bleed into the photo paper border. Even if I cut the border off, I'd get basically the same result. I didn't really understand, back then when I shot the photograph, what I understand now. So...at some point, maybe I'll go back and see if I can get a similar shot, keeping in mind the end result.
I went ahead and printed it anyway; I wanted to try a new photo paper. But, the result was just as I had imagined. It's all good though...from where I sit...the journey's the best part.
