Very nervous Red-spotted Purple butterfly taking a brief moment of rest on a Maple leaf during a stiff breeze.
Mimic of the poisonous Pipevine butterfly. Considered by some as the most beautiful butterfly in the area.
Uncommon and infrequently encountered. Shares sub species status with the White Admiral butterfly.
The Labor Day Tulsa Great Raft Race was a hot one. 4 months earlier May/June, the Arkansas river was at an all time record height, now all is back to normal and fun to be had on the water!

Sitting creek side, I almost fell in a few times trying to get close enoug. Have so so equipment so I need to get close for half decent shot. I know some would edit the water blemishes but it is how I saw it. Happy Day (;-D

I have to wonder if this was the butterfly that Mohamid Ali was referring to when he said "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee"
These beauties really seem to float as they gather around their host plant.
Host plants in my yard: Passiflora Biflora and Corky Stem vine.

Peace and tranquility in the port of Šilo
In the silence of the blue hour, little boats dream at the pier, beneath streetlights melting into the calm sea. Clouds drift quietly, careful not to wake them, but soon dawn will break this peace.

The picturesque town and harbour of Lynmouth in Devon,at low water. The boats left stranded on the sea bed,the receding tide leaving all the boats uniformly pointing the same way.Their chains and moorings limply tied to the quayside,awaiting the return of the next tide.
