A couple of days ago our postman delivered a parcel to me, and to my surprise inside was a 850gm bar of Cadbury’s chocolate, without any note saying who had sent it; it was really for ‘Rainman’. Above is an exact image of the bar both back and front apart from the wording on the rosette. The words originally said ‘Number 1 Dad’, well that got my wife asking some very awkward questions as she knew it wasn’t sent by any of my boys; but in the end she believed I had no idea about it. Therefore, I changed the wording to read ‘Number 1 Escape Artist’ and that is all I have changed; everything else is as it was. So, whoever did send the chocolate I am truly grateful and thank you very much? I am so chuffed with the surprise I think it deserves a billboard all of its own. The billboard is actually located opposite Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester....!
Thank you once again; will I ever know who?
I've had a kind of hiatus lately, not touching anything photography related. But after running some errands yesterday, we swung through Dyer on our way home. The scanner came alive with a westbound calling a track foreman for permission through his work limits. When he responded and gave the 1032 the OK to proceed, I knew we might have a nice old Illinois Central SD70 leading. Sure enough, the big black deathstar was up front, but he certainly wasn't alone. There were three more IC SD70s in the consist, along with a blue GE leaser and two other old CN EMDs, the last one a striped GP38-2W. Not bad for getting back in the swing of things.
Try folding it yourself.

Here's to Flickr and all the great photographers out there!
It snowed yesterday - tiny flurries at first that morphed into huge flakes. I couldn't pass up the chance to get out there and have a little photographic fun. I wanted to try and re-create the image I captured earlier this year (when there was a heck of alot more snow). It's supposed to get into the 40s today, which means most of this beautiful white stuff will be gone. I'm not even sure if there will be a white Christmas this year. And the snow we got yesterday was of the powdery kind (the kind skiers love), so it was too powdery to make a snowman. Nonetheless, it was a good excuse to have a little fun outside and drink some good whiskey from my new flask.

So, I logged into flickr today, and I found this. Apparently flickr decided that giving anybody and everybody a free terabyte of storage wasn't the best business plan, so as of January 2019, they're downgrading every free account to a max limit of 1000 photos. Now, I'm not gonna lie, having all that storage space POOFED away from every free account (read: the ENTIRE Lego community on flickr) but 1000 photos is still a sky-high limit that I doubt will cause a problem for anybody. No, the thing that irks me is that this is just the next step in flickr's ludicrous line of "spam prevention" methods, starting with only allowing photos to be in 30 groups. According to the article the flickr administration believes that they can discourage spam accounts by not advertising one FREAKING TERABYTE of storage. However, these inane methods AREN'T GOING TO CHANGE ANYTHING. Because you know what people who reach the photo limit are going to do? They're gonna create alt account. They're robots. They don't care what the photo cap is, THEY'RE A FLIPPING COMPUTER PROGRAM. Any spammer with a half-functional brain is going to realize that a 1K photograph limit is no less of a hindrance than a one terabyte limit is, and any other spammer isn't going to care. The only people flickr's inane "spam prevention" methods are succeeding in inconveniencing are us, the people who actually use flickr for photography. Ugh.

Beta is a test preview of the change that is getting ready to be implemented soon. It can be for a limited group of flickr members, intended to seek feedback and correct faults ( if any), before it is made public.
Change is good and public has always welcomed good changes. The preference for Windows XP by most people even after the introduction of Vista is a classic example of public acceptance. The public liked and preferred the predecessor ( Windows XP ) and the follower ( Windows 7 and Windows 8 ) versions of Vista. A change is good and often gladly welcomed by public, if it provides more utilities and user friendliness, without depriving even a single advantage of the predecessor.
The Beta version is unacceptable to the majority of Flickr users* ( who happened to experience it ) , because it's not user friendly and has only disadvantages to mention. *Please check the Beta feedback : Completed / Top ideas / Hot ideas
The layout itself is a disaster. Please check : Try our new photo experience beta / Comment box
However they try, it's quite evident that it's impossible to provide more space for descriptions, comment box, and comments; not to mention comments with pictures , group invites / awards. The more they try to fix it, the more cumbersome it becomes. The buddy icons now appear as dots making the page more unaesthetic than what you see in the earlier pictures of beta . They are desperately trying to make it appealing and user friendly, which is literally impossible with the proposed layout .
It's a big challenge for the programmers to try find means to provide more space in a vertical column which is already cramped.
Is it possible to make a rugby stadium inside a 100 square feet ground ?

Centuries ago many people believed that the Earth was at the centre of the Universe and was surrounded by crystal spheres. In the modern age science fiction writers and some scientists would have us believe in a "Parallel Universe" where there is an alternative existence. I have tried to recreate this in a photographic image. If one had an optical device that could look at Earth from a light year away, we would see ourselves in the past.

The Royal Liver Building (pronounced: "lie-ver") is a Grade I listed building located in Liverpool, England. It is sited at the Pier Head and, along with the neighbouring Cunard Building and Port of Liverpool Building, is one of Liverpool's Three Graces, which line the city's waterfront. It is also part of Liverpool's UNESCO designated World Heritage Maritime Mercantile City.
Today the Royal Liver Building is one of the most recognisable landmarks in the city of Liverpool and is home to two fabled Liver Birds (can be seen clearly in this picture) that watch over the city and the sea. Legend has it that were these two birds to fly away, then the city would cease to exist.
