The Flaming Mountain was made famous in a classic Chinese novel, The Journey to the West and its hero, the Monkey King.
According to a Uigur legend, a dragon lived in Tianshan Mountain and ate little children. A Uigur hero beat the dragon and cut it into eight parts. The dragon turned into a scarlet mountain, and his eight scars turned into the eight valleys.

This is a rock that I have. I have always loved it. It is a geode. It reminds me of a flaming heart for some reason. so, I thought I'd share it with the wonderful world of flickr!

This photo was taken using a glowing mini mouse headband (artificial light)that flashes on and off. My friend who was also the subject used this headband to trace the outsides of her body to create this silhouette. It reminds me of fire which got its name. By using a super slow shutter speed, the trace of the light was created. For me this image represents velocity because the blurry lines and figures around the body gives an effect that the object was moving fast, which is what velocity means.
