According to a Uigur legend, a dragon lived in Tianshan Mountain and ate little children. A Uigur hero beat the dragon and cut it into eight parts. The dragon turned into a scarlet mountain, and his eight scars turned into the eight valleys.

This is a rock that I have. I have always loved it. It is a geode. It reminds me of a flaming heart for some reason. so, I thought I'd share it with the wonderful world of flickr!
'The Flaming Cliffs' of the Gobi Desert, Omnogovi province. Once also an ocean bed, this site is famous for the first discovery of dinosaur eggs, hundreds of thousands of fossil bones, and the first preserved dinosaur footprints which were discovered here in 1922.
Flaming Gorge Dam near Vernal, Utah. Operated by the Department of Interior's Bureau of Reclamation, it began generating electricity in 1963 and has a total installed generating capacity of about 150 megawatts. The dam has resulted in sandbar and sediment loss on the Green River, reducing habitat for native fish.
