Yes, it's real fire. I set it on a metal tray and poured lighter fluid all over it. If you're gonna do this make sure to cool the lighter every couple of seconds. I made a lot of shots till I got the right one and the Zippo heated up so much that the cap got really loose.
This was actually taken with a cheap compact camera from HP 3 years ago. :)
Flaming Lips
Located in the Automobile Alley District of Oklahoma City is The Womb Gallery. Created by the Flaming Lips' frontman Wayne Coyne ( a native of the city who is also known for being pictured on Google street view in a bathtub on his lawn), the outside of the building was painted mainly by Brooklyn-based artist Mya Hayuk. The robots at the far end were painted by R. Nicholas Kuszyk.
Looking at my recent shots, I realized I haven't done much creative stuff since I finished my 365 project. Time to redress the balance a bit; and what better way to start than some pyrotechnics. So it was out with the lighter fluid and a box of matches, and it's flaming drinks time.
IC 405 (also known as the Flaming Star Nebula, SH 2-229, or Caldwell 31) is an emission/reflection nebula[1] in the constellation Auriga, surrounding the bluish star AE Aurigae. It shines at magnitude +6.0. Its celestial coordinates are RA 05h 16.2m dec +34° 28′.[2] It surrounds the irregular variable star AE Aurigae and is located near the emission nebula IC 410, the open clusters M38 and M36, and the naked-eye K-class star Hassaleh. The nebula measures approximately 37.0' x 19.0', and lies about 1,500 light-years away from Earth.[2] It is believed that the proper motion of the central star can be traced back to the Orion's Belt area.[2] The nebula is about 5 light-years across

Flaming June is a painting by Frederic Lord Leighton, produced in 1895. Painted with oil paints on a 47" x 47" square canvas, it is widely considered to be Leighton's magnum opus, showing his classicist nature. It is thought that the woman portrayed alludes to the sleeping figures the Greeks would often paint which were collectively referred to as Venus
