Flaming Gorge, named by John Wesley Powell for the brilliant, flaming red of its cliffs, and Antelope Flats, we're now in Utah. With the snow-capped Uinta Mountains in the background.
I can't believe I had the nerve to name this after Leighton's Flaming June. It's one of my all time favorite paintings and I've had a print of it on my wall for years. But I love the title and this does look a bit flaming and a bit June-ish to me. I also excuse myself by thinking that some of you who don't know the painting will take a look at it and love it (and the rest of Leighton's work) as much as I do.
This one is for you Linda! LOL! I know how you like a good dam. Well, THIS is a dam. It was a bit scary standing at the bottom and looking up when you thought about all the water behind that wall.
I'll post a shot from the other side of the dam next.

Another image from the fun outing I went on last weekend with other members of the Oakville Camera Club. The site visited was the Crawford Lake Conservation Area which is located about 40 minutes west of Toronto by car.

Last night's sunset with a touch of flood filter. The flood filter plug in for PS is made by Flaming Pear www.flamingpear.com/download.html and every so often I like a wee play with it. (That is how I got the reflection of the "super moon" shot.)
(This sunset looks hot but it really was freezing last night - about 10 degrees when I took this and it dropped a lot colder than that - this is supposed to be summer!!! What else can you do but play in these temperatures :-))

There's a funny story behind this shot!
This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago when I was studying for my exams. I was sitting on my bed and constantly looking at my books and notes etc. When I looked outside my window I was really shocked, because the sky had a color I've never ever ever seen before! It was red, orange and pinkish and the clouds really looked like flames.
I was so excited lol. And before I even knew it I was putting my pants on (I was in my pyjamas), grabbing my camera and I ran outside. I knew the sunset would dissapear within minutes so I had to act very quickly. And yup I was right! The sunset was gone within 5 minutes, but I did take some shots of the beautiful sky!
This picture was taken when the sunset was almost gone, but I have another shot that I'll upload later this week and it's probably one of my favorite shots ever!! Can't wait to show it to you guys!
You and the night and the music fill me with flaming desire,
Setting my being completely on fire!
You and the night and the music thrill me but will we be one
After the night and the music are done?
Until the pale light of dawning and daylight,
our hearts will be throbbing guitars,
Morning may come without warning,
and take away the stars.
If we must live for the moment,
love till the moment is through!
After the night and the music die,
will I have you?

Well, hardly, at the moment at least … still, at least it saves ages watering everything, but oh wouldn't it be lovely to have some sunshine?
I took this shot from the bottom of the field on which the Car Boot Sale is held, looking North. Yes, we started our daily constitutional under these clouds and then watched them roll away northwards!
The flaming disc of the sun, about to make contact with the horizon. I like it turned sideways. It looks like a comet hurtling through gas clouds in outer space. DSC05844.JPG
Have a Flaming Merry Christmas all ;)
It's winter solstice today (Dec 21) - the shortest, darkest day of the year.
Here was the sunrise @ 8:41 and the sundown will be at 15:35!!!
I thought we need some bright colors to cheer us up with!
Whenever I get a new vintage lens, I want to buy more. To combat this, I pull out the Fuji X-Pro1 and put on a Takumar lens and take some pictures. This time it was the 85mm f/1.9. Straight out of camera jpegs with all settings set neutral or 0. This camera and lens combo does a wonderful job of capturing the beauty of these Flaming Sunrise Gladiolus. Absolutely breathtaking.

I'm on holidays and on the road, so you won't see many comments from me, sorry. I'll visit as opportunities arise.
