The Atashgah is located on a site that has been venerated for many centuries because of its naturally occurring "eternal fires." Zoroastrianism as a religion spread in Azerbaijan in the first millennium BCE.

According to historians, the Atashgah was considered a holy place by Zoroastrians long before the 17th century, when fire-worshippers built the temple.

The walls of this complex are pentagonal, encircling an inner courtyard surrounded by what used to be monks’ cells. There are decorative castellations (parapets), a striking entryway and – in the centre of the quad – a flaming stone temple/altar, which once spat natural fire from an oil vent below. Nowadays, this hearth is fuelled by Baku’s main gas supply, yet the mystical appeal of this seemingly inextinguishable fire still stands.

Another image from the fun outing I went on last weekend with other members of the Oakville Camera Club. The site visited was the Crawford Lake Conservation Area which is located about 40 minutes west of Toronto by car.

Near the upper end of the Flaming Gorge reservoir, just downstream of Green River, Wyoming. Looks like a fascinating landscape for a long-distance ice skate.

Hope you won't need your shades to view these flaming beauties !! LOL!!

You and the night and the music fill me with flaming desire,

Setting my being completely on fire!

You and the night and the music thrill me but will we be one

After the night and the music are done?

Until the pale light of dawning and daylight,

our hearts will be throbbing guitars,

Morning may come without warning,

and take away the stars.

If we must live for the moment,

love till the moment is through!

After the night and the music die,

will I have you?

Well, hardly, at the moment at least … still, at least it saves ages watering everything, but oh wouldn't it be lovely to have some sunshine?

I took this shot from the bottom of the field on which the Car Boot Sale is held, looking North. Yes, we started our daily constitutional under these clouds and then watched them roll away northwards!

The flaming disc of the sun, about to make contact with the horizon. I like it turned sideways. It looks like a comet hurtling through gas clouds in outer space. DSC05844.JPG

Have a Flaming Merry Christmas all ;)

It's winter solstice today (Dec 21) - the shortest, darkest day of the year.

Here was the sunrise @ 8:41 and the sundown will be at 15:35!!!

I thought we need some bright colors to cheer us up with!

"Post call" syndrome, after a day and a half of non-stop work I find my self digging up this photo.

Idea took weeks of thought, capturing the concept a few days, keeping it a secret a month. Flickr is where I share my passion, hiding things from flickr felt odd.

In case you were wondering. The flame on the ice is purely natural. PS only used to curve the black into darkness.

Whenever I get a new vintage lens, I want to buy more. To combat this, I pull out the Fuji X-Pro1 and put on a Takumar lens and take some pictures. This time it was the 85mm f/1.9. Straight out of camera jpegs with all settings set neutral or 0. This camera and lens combo does a wonderful job of capturing the beauty of these Flaming Sunrise Gladiolus. Absolutely breathtaking.

Cyclamen....a plant of the primrose family, having pink red or white flowers with backward curving petals.

I'm on holidays and on the road, so you won't see many comments from me, sorry. I'll visit as opportunities arise.

If you like to have some fun with your original photos, check out the Photoshop plugins from Flaming Pear Software. I did this one with one of my favorite plugins called aetherize

I'm not a huge fan of flaming on cars, but this one...DAMN!
