My daughter brought sunflowers last week. So nice of her... Seeing them in their vase of water, getting older by the day, I decided to take a few photos under late night conditions with only the light of a lamp on the table.
...'Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections...
-John Legend made a nice song here:
As we neared, this was the view of our campsite area. This is on the S.E. part of the gorge. We set up near the lake. Although a bit barren, the daytime temps stayed in the low 80's and cooled to the 50's at night.
On this cold Alberta cloudy winter morning, the morning sunrise made the clouds appear to have set the buildings on fire in downtown Edmonton

HMM, Macro Monday - theme "eye"
In the daylily world, the innermost part of the daylily is the "throat." If present, the "eye" or eyezone is the band of color surrounding the throat. In this macro, it is the deep burgundy color. I teach Sunday School to adult women, and we were studying the book of James, who talks about the tongue - "And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity...." I bought them all (including myself) this daylily which is really named "Flaming Tongues."

IC 405 (also known as the Flaming Star Nebula, SH 2-229, or Caldwell 31) is an emission/reflection nebula[1] in the constellation Auriga, surrounding the bluish star AE Aurigae. It shines at magnitude +6.0. Its celestial coordinates are RA 05h 16.2m dec +34° 28′.[2] It surrounds the irregular variable star AE Aurigae and is located near the emission nebula IC 410, the open clusters M38 and M36, and the naked-eye K-class star Hassaleh. The nebula measures approximately 37.0' x 19.0', and lies about 1,500 light-years away.[2] It is believed that the proper motion of the central star can be traced back to the Orion's Belt area.[2] The nebula is about 5 light-years across.[1]

My first NB image! Just an hour of data and the target was close to the bright moon but excited to capture something!
I was afraid my tracking would not be good enough for the image scale of 1.18" per pixel but was mostly OK. I took one 600 second exposure which of course was much nicer but I did not have the time to grab 10 minute subs and darks.
Just did a quick process in which I used ABE instead of DBE and it shows. I was surprised though at the real lack of any vignetting using a long 1.25" extension tube and 1.25" filter. I need to order a 2" extension tube so that I can get the filter much closer to the sensor.

the sheer volume of pyrotechnics on display was quite stunning!

Rich sunset down the road from my place tonight. Still waiting for some high cirrus clouds to light up the sky in those beautiful pinks. Shot at 300 mm ( unedited ).

Probably my favourite flower of early Summer, I just love these oriental poppies. Partly because each bloom only lasts for a day or two!

Leaving Vernal, UT approaching Flaming Gorge. I was shooting random shots from the passenger seat. The lighting and landscape scenes change very quickly at 65 MPH. You don't get a chance for a "do over" if you miss the shot. Compositions are a hit or miss. Sometimes I get lucky and others go straight to the trash bin.
