A finales del siglo XIX y comienzos del XX se utilizaban la caoba, el nogal, el fresno, el acebo y el roble.Los grips no tenían cuero sino estrías. Entre 1.900 y 1.920 aparecen los cuellos laminados y cóncavos.En los años 30 cambian los diseños y aparecen las hazell´s, con corazón abierto y tres barras. Los marcos empiezan a ser laminados. A partir de los años 40 los grips comienzan a ser más pequeños y las raquetas se decoran con fotos de jugadores. Posteriormente comienzan a fabricarse con nuevas maderas y materiales. La gran mayoría de las raquetas son ya de corazón abierto. En los años 80, desaparece la madera para pasar al metal y, posteriormente, a las fibras.
