I think I saw a Camellia with leaves like this at UBCBG, but I don't have it listed as one I've posted. I see one called Fishtail Camellia, Camellia japonica 'Kingyo-Tsubaki' and it's on the UBCBG list. Surely that's what this is. It's very cute.

'Giant Fishtail Palm' seedling, a palm species from the northern mountains of Thailand. It's been in the ground for two weeks already and has already produced it's second seedling leaf. This palm can grow to spectacular proportions. Here is a picture of an adolescent example of this species.
Another great thing about this plant is that it can tolerate occasional winter dips into the 20's F (below 0C)
I made this skirt from two pairs of my fiancé's castoff trousers!
It has my usual elasticated waist, using decorative bomber jacket elastic. The shape is a kind of a fishtail - straight to the knees, and then flared out at the hem. This was dictated by the shape of the trouser pieces.
