A closer image of one of the Bar-tailed Godwits I saw on Fishtail Lagoon at Keyhaven on a very rainy, wet day similar to today!

The strange characteristic of the tree is that it flowers only once during the total course of its existence and it continues in flowers for several years. The first branch of the flowers appears at the top of the `Fish Tail Palm` tree and it is very long. The branch hangs straight down the trunk. When the first branch finishes flowering, the others issue from the axils of lower leaves or the former leaves. They issue until there is a wide level-ended "horse`s tail" of branches. Until the very last one of the flower sheaths appears at the foot of the trunk, this downward development of flower sheaths continues. The fruits of the tree are reddish in colour and they develop from the flowers. They also hang down in a thick "tail".The pulp of this tree is acidic and does sting the hands if you touch them.

Was probably one of the most beautiful days in Pokhara for the entire year ... and I was happy I was there to capture the day

Machapuchare, Machhapuchchhre or Machhapuchhre (from Nepali माछापुच्छ्रे, meaning 'fishtail'), is a mountain in the Annapurna Himalayas of north central Nepal. It is revered by the local population as particularly sacred to the god Shiva, and hence is off limits to climbing.

And a couple of landscapes.

This 6.997m mountain is part of the Annapurna Himal.

When it comes to shape and symmetry this mountain is definitely the most beautiful one for me.

Another interesting fact about this mountain is, that it has officially never been climbed.

This sacred, picturesque mountain rises 6,993m above sea level & is closed to climbers.

Rising nearly 7000m into the clear blue sky above Nepal’s rugged Annapurna mountain range, Machapuchare is arguably the most untouched place on Earth. Believed to be one of the homes of the Hindu god Shiva, its isolated summit sits alone in the sky – unclimbable and untouched. Officially, Machapuchare has never been summited, making its ethereal heights one of the least-visited places on Earth.

Machapuchare, Machhapuchchhre or Machhapuchhre is a mountain situated in the Annapurna massif of Gandaki Pradesh, north-central Nepal. Its highest peak has never been officially climbed due to the impossibility of gaining a permit from the government of Nepal. The Fishtail peak in colour.

Fishtail Palm, is a species of palm native to Tropical Asia from India to Java to southern China, now sparingly naturalized in southern Florida and in parts of Africa and Latin America.

Each leaf is made of many pairs of leaflets shaped like tail fins that give this palm its name.

The province of Nan is located in the north of Thailand and borders Laos. It is one of the lesser known provinces of Thailand, but is known for its natural beauty, rich culture and ancient history. It's a great place to visit if you're looking for adventure and relaxation in nature. Road 1256 passes through the mountains of Nan and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. Almost the most beautiful road in Thailand, the view on the side of the road is very beautiful, if you go during the rainy season, the atmosphere will be very good. You can see the green along the two sides of the road on the ridge. In some parts you can see the beautiful view of rice fields over the hills. It may be overgrown on some parts of the road. There are several interesting sights and activities to enjoy along the way. It's great for bird watching, camping, and hiking, and you're unlikely to meet many other people while exploring. You can also visit the Doi Phu Kha National Park, which is known for its beautiful waterfalls, lush forests and spectacular views. Wonderfully cool weather all year round. In addition, there are also several hill tribe villages along the way, where you have the chance to experience the local culture and traditions.

Thailand is home to several beautiful national parks that showcase the country's diverse natural beauty. The Doi Phu Kha National Park is located near the border between Thailand and Laos. The National Park is also home to the highest mountain peak in the province. The highest point is also called Doi Phu Kha at an altitude of 1,920 meters. If you are traveling to Doi Phu Kha National Park from Nan, I will definitely recommend staying here for a night. Most of the year the weather is nice and the view is stunning early in the morning. A moderate intensity nature trail with a large map detailing the route starts behind the National Park Visitor Center and continues for 2km, ending at a small village. The most beautiful is the viewpoint with a very large 1715 digits representing the height of the point. It takes about 2 hours to complete. However, there is definitely some climbing to do. Please wear trekking boots for the hike. The monsoon is not the best time to do this as there are many leeches and other reptiles that you may not appreciate. The giant fishtail palm is a flowering plant and is native to Laos and Thailand. It can reach 20 meters or more in height and is therefore considered a tree. It is monocarpic, meaning it blooms once' after 10 years and then dies. The inflorescence can reach 6 meters or more.

This is what happens when Mr Kingfisher gets back to his perch fish in beak ! A quick flip so as to swallow headfirst and down it goes - didn't touch the sides , makes you wonder how he swallows a fish whole when there couple of others not long been swallowed !!

Note the orange feathers all splayed out , the droplets of water from the fish and his feathers and the tail of the fish as it disappears !!

Sitting on an escarpment 1,592 meters high, the quaint village of Sarangkot is a "pilgrimage" destination for the nature devotees who endeavor to make the arduous journey uphill and witness an unimpeded view of the Annapurna Range and Himalayan Mountains. The sight is particularly glorious.

Sarangkot is best known for its sunrise, where on a clear day you can see an unobstructed view of the Himalayan mountains of Annapurna range, Dhauligiri range, Fishtail.

Indeed, long-legged they are, these small, wonderfully colorful flies. There are a couple of hundred species and I can't distinguish all of them. Nonetheless, I'm always fascinated even without knowing their precise names. The scientific name refers to their long, jointed legs.

Fishtail Lagoon, Keyhaven

With low cloud, poor visibility, 30mph winds and plenty of sea mist in the air, I didn’t really expect to get anything out of this morning’s walk round the lagoons, so I was more than happy to find these male Pintails - the first I’ve photographed at Keyhaven.
