This is a fishtail palm my Aunt Jean bought for us, and our friend Michelle helped pick out at the wholesale market on Swan Island. The furnishings, color, and feel throughout the clinic were put together by Cheryl Janis - who we're lucky to have both as a friend and as a gifted designer.

Ich wundere mich immer wieder welche technischen Eskapaden die japanischen Behörden durchgehen lassen. Diese Harley mit der extravaganten Abgasanlage habe ich auf einem Parkplatz bei den Shiraito-Wasserfällen gesehen.

The information on this sign speaks for itself but one thing about travel is that it exposes you to different cultural and behavioural models in one country as opposed to another.
One of my overarching comparisons with Australia is the relative differences between the way US citizens, that I encountered, value their cultural, historical and natural heritage including their attitudes to preservation of the landscape and the importance of their National Parks.
I've traveled extensively in the USA and Europe and also within Australia and at the risk of offending some my impressions are that Australians simply don't value these attributes to the same degree that Americans do.
Evidence of this is found for example in the respect paid to interpretive and other signage by US citizens and, of course by travelers of other nationalities within the USA.
Virtually nowhere in 3 trips to the USA and Canada over the years have I seen graffiti vandalising educational interpretive signs.
I would like to stress that these are my observations alone and they're not backed up by any data but unfortunately I see this lack of valuation and respect for public interpretive signage relatively often in my travels in Australia.
Are there any sociology majors out there who may be able to offer some insights and data examining if and if so, why there could be a relative lack of respect for natural landscapes and public infrastructure between the peoples of various nation states.

Im000999.Jpg - Fishtail Lace patterned socks knitted in Lorna's Laces 'Seaside' yarn. The dyelots of the two skeins were different. The yarn was a gift and the difference not noted by the buyer or seller.
The yarn has a natural striping effect when using plain stocking stitch, but the Fishtail Lace pattern (from Harmony's book 'Lace & Eyelet Stitches') gives an attractive speckled and textured appearance.
