Created by Adria Garcia and Sarah Kavage for the Bellwether outdoor sculpture exhibition. The show is up through mid-October and is totally worth a trip out to Bellevue to see! Our work is on the NE 6th pedestrian corridor, between Bellevue Way and 106th Ave NE.
The famous "Fishtail" mountain, real name Machapuchare, is a unconquered mountain visible from Pokhara, Nepal. On a misty morning the mountain loomed eerily out of the sky, so distant yet so striking. This picture has been enhanced to make the mountain clearer.
To get some small sense of scale, look at the tree line.

Fishtail Palm Caryota mitis near Camino Real Tikal Hotel, Guatemala. The fishtail refers to the shape of the leaves which is unique for palm trees.
Caryota is a genus of palm trees. They are often known as fishtail palms because of the shape of their leaves. There are about 13 species native to Asia and the South Pacific.

That's Mt.Machhapuchre as seen from the city of Pokhara in Nepal. It's also known as the fishtail due to its shape.
