Prefer this one to my first attempt (deleted that photo, didn't like it - sorry to those who faved!) but still have stray loops sticking out. Need more practice.
Nothing so relaxing mixed with a hint of excitement as walking along a deserted beach with the salt spray of a rough sea washing into shore and a bright sun looking for beach finds and things of interest.
Fishtail or fin fossil
So I tried something new again with my hair. I rolled and twisted my hair on the side and then did a simple fishtail braid.
Fishtail Peak ~ Machapuchare ~ माछापुच्छ्रे ~ a mountain in the Annapurna Himal of north central Nepal ~ Seen from Pokhara, Nepal
Shot of the sacred Fishtail peak (6,993 m = 22,943 ft) taken from Tadapani.
from Wikipedia:
Machapuchare or Machhapuchhre (माछापुछ्रे) Lit. "Fish Tail" in English, is a mountain in the Annapurna Himal of north central Nepal. It is revered by the local population as particularly sacred to the god Shiva, and hence is off limits to climbing.
Machapuchare has never been climbed to its summit. The only attempt was in 1957 by a British team led by Jimmy Roberts. Climbers Wilfrid Noyce and A. D. M. Cox climbed to within 50 m of the summit via the north ridge, but did not complete the ascent; they had promised not to set foot on the actual summit. Since then, the mountain has been declared sacred, and it is now forbidden to climbers.
We are trekking up Mt. Machhapuchchhre, aka "Mt. Fishtail", named for it's distinctive two-pronged twisted peak which you can see in the middle here. It's so distinctive I managed to spot it from directly overhead, when flying back home over the Himalayas, amongst 28 other peaks over 6,500m tall.. and many other smaller ones of course!
The peak itself is declared sacred - off-limits to climbers, and never summited.
We trekked to the 4500m "Base Camp" - which is denoted by a rusted sign and a sort-of 'hut' comprising three waist-height brick walls.
It was a gorgeous & peaceful trek, and I can see why this mountain is so beloved by locals. :)

This breath taking view is from Sarangkot. This hill is famous for the panoramic view of the Annapurna Himalayan range. It is also famous for paragliding. It has the bird's eye view of the seti river, fewa lake, and the valley itself. This hill station is a 10 minute uphill drive from Aarchalbot. This route is also one of the short day trek route within the Pokhara valley.
Machhapuchchhre ('fishtail'), is a mountain situated in the Annapurna massif of Gandaki Province, north-central Nepal. Its highest peak has never been officially climbed due to the impossibility of gaining a permit from the government of Nepal.
Due to its southern position in the range and the particularly low terrain that lies south of the Annapurna Himalayas, which contains three of the 10 highest peaks in the world, Machapuchare commands tremendous vertical relief in a short horizontal distance. This, combined with its steep, pointed profile, makes it a particularly striking peak, despite a lower elevation than some of its neighbors. Its double summit resembles the tail of a fish, hence the name meaning "fish's tail" in Nepalese. It is also nicknamed the "Matterhorn of Nepal".
It is a sacred peak for the Gurungs and the people of Chomrong.
Yes i copied my best friend who also has a picture of her fish tail.

Machapuchare (Fishtail) in the Annapurna Range is off-limits to climbers and has never been summited. At 6,993 m (22,943 ft), it is not the tallest mountain in the range, but it is surely the most spectacular.

My new favorite braid to do with my dreads because it actually stays in! It's a fishtail braid which has always been one of my favorite braids anyway.
Side of my fishtail braid. Eh. My creativity sucks. It's shaky and out of focus. Sorry.
I'm failing at life right now and feel terrible.
PLEASE, IF YOU EVER POST MY PHOTO ON TUMBLR TAG #jklmno . THANK YOU!!!
