Helgumannen fishing village on the island of Fårö, Gotland in Sweden.
Used in the1800s and early 1900s, a few weeks in spring and autumn.
The Cobb is the famous curved stone harbour wall at Lyme Regis in West Dorset. There has been a harbour here for hundreds of years, and it is still used as an everyday working harbour by a number of fishing boats.

"Worth every penny"
Captured soon after dawn in Cua Dai “fishing-net” village (Hoi An) where the nets are set each night and pulled in the next morning. The trick is to get up at 4am, hire a fishing boat to take you out, and just soak it all in.
I post the second photograph of this series. After a few minutes the fisherman drove his boat about a hundred and more meters north east from his initial position, gathering the fishing nets and the boat was not backlighted.
Fishing nets at Mirador de L' Albufera, Parc Natural de l'Albufera de València, Spain
L' Albufera de València means "lagoon" in Valèncian, (from Arabic البحيرة al-buhayra, "small sea"), is a freshwater lagoon and estuary on the Gulf of València coast about 10km from the City.
The natural biodiversity of the nature reserve allows a great variety of flora and fauna to thrive and be observed year-round. Though once a saltwater lagoon, dilution due to irrigation, canals draining into the estuary and the sand bars increasing in size meant that it had converted into freshwater by the seventeenth century.

While exploring the rugged coastline at Tarskavaig, Isle of Skye (on a less than ideal day), I spotted a brightly coloured old fishing net down near the shore. I awkwardly clambered through the jumble of large rocks (while my husband watched me nervously, but I only fell over twice) to reach the net - looking almost as though it had been carefully draped over the rocks. The bright colour of the net made a lovely contrast with the dull and dreary conditions.

I've been starting to document examples of litter that I find around the world. Iceland is very clean and the beaches are mostly litter free. While exploring the beach by Vestrahorn mountain on the Stokksnes Penninsula I saw this fishing net that had been washed ashore. It added a bright touch of colour to the scene. A sand dune was starting to build up around the nets and its colourful floats. I used a wide angle lens to get up close for foreground interest in the image. Is it litter or is it art, or maybe both?
