This beach is now a fish sanctuary and the fish get fed by the tourist. They must know they're safe because they will nudge you to get their spam.

Sue bought these at an aquarium auction yesterday. Put them out on the deck rail in the sun for this picture. Fortunately none jumped out of this little plastic container. The blue behind them is the sky.
Sue says the males have the longer elongated tail. So the fish at the bottom right is probably female and the other 2 are males.
Scientific Name: Phenacogrammus interruptus
Taken at the Seattle Aquarium a few weeks back. It was horribly underexposed and I am afraid that no amount of dicking with the file will bring back the vibrant red of the Clown Fish. Oh well.

A young lady arranges fish in the counter of her shop. People walking past and a group looking at the display are caught in the reflections from the fish monger's window. The fish shops in Oostende have a fantastic variety to choose from.

Fresh caught red snapper. The fish have been out in the sun all day and there is not enough ice in the cooler to keep fish cold and fresh. They haven't been washed or scaled or filleted. There is a lot bacteria growing in there.

"Strips of blackened fish over flour tortilla served with salsa and guacamole $165.00"
This was pretty substantial, refreshing and hit the spot. It had a wonderful ratio of diced fresh seasoned fish (cod? halibut?) that was contrasted by the crisp lightness of the fresh vegetables and the smooth perk from the guacamole and tart lime juice. My only qualm was the fact that my plate/tortillas were soaked with the pan juices (read oil) which made consumption both messy (drippy) and difficult to eat (the tortillas wanted to fall apart).
